It looks as though you’ve done a great job with exploring what DailyBurn has to offer, going beyond the assignments and finding programs or challenges that interest you. It’s also awesome that you been keeping up with submitting your progress. Kudos to you, and keep up the great work!

You’ve been doing an awesome job keeping up with the assignments and submitting your progress regularly. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with documenting our progress, but I think it really helps to see how far we’ve come and where we want to go. It also looks like you have some good specific goals that you’re working towards. Keep up the good work!

    RE: Final Message

I'm glad over the past few weeks you were able to be more aware of your food intake and more conscious of how many fruits/veggies you incorporate into your daily live. Continue making healthy choices everyday!! Have a wonderful spring! :)

    Final Message

Websites like DailyBurn are useful in tracking one’s progress. Someone could track these same things on paper or in a journal, but the fact that it’s online creates a community aspect of it. Rather than just keeping this information to yourself, you can share it with others, form a community support, and motivate and excite each other. On the other hand, the website is only as helpful as the user makes it. If the user doesn’t take advantage of at least one of the site’s features, or use them regularly, then the benefits won’t be apparent. My SMART goals were to eat at more fruits and/or vegetables (specifically at least one serving of per day for one week) and to walk continuously for 20 minutes for at least 5 days a week (for a duration of four weeks). For the most part I’ve kept to my goals. I’ve walked at least 3 days a week, and on the days that I didn’t walk I performed other physical activities. The nutrition goal was met for in full for the first week, after that I’ve relaxed it a bit, but I have noticed that I’ve become more conscious of my eating habits and do strive to include that section of the food pyramid into my diet.

    Motivation

This week I sent motivations to ssilam and tkarrys. What keeps me motivated in general is looking towards tomorrow or the next week and so forth. Making healthy choices is the same, I’m not looking for instant gratification I’m looking to enjoy the present and aim for tomorrow. It’s also a matter of knowing the consequences of one’s actions. Knowing that something will have an unfavorable outcome is often enough to motivate me in the opposite direction. Equally, the positive outcome of an action is also a great motivator. Results aren’t always immediate, but when you are able to trace back your actions and discover how a positive outcome was reached it reinforces the actions that led to it. This week I focused on my indoor workout, I find that they are easy exercises that I can fit into my schedule. My dog can fit a tug game into any hour of the day and she can be quite persistent too. Wii fit was also easy to continue regularly, as a recent purchase of Wii Fit Plus has rekindled my family’s interest in the game. It’s much easier to keep up with and have fun with something when you’re participating with others.

    The Healthier Baconator Burger

(http://dailyburn.com/recipes/healthier_version_of_the_baconator_burger) I love bacon, even though I know it's not very healthy. To help lower cholesterol, I remember my aunt and uncle switching to turkey bacon. It’s strange at first, but good in its own way – so I wanted to apply this ingredient change to this healthier version of the Baconator. Plus with the combination of a meat patty and some added vegetables I think the taste difference will be less noticeable.

    Free Forum

While reading chapter 9 this week I found myself quite pleased to finally put a name to that pesky, sharp pain that often occurs on my right side when I run. The “side stitch” (an appropriate name for it) was my plaque in high school PE, and the mile run was always the culprit. It’s nice to finally put a name to a pain and to get some tips on how to avoid it and alleviate it once it shows up.
