    Reflections on 2011

Total of 4771km at an average speed of11.9km/h. Improved my marathon times by almost 10 minutes from 2010. Aiming for two marathons and a 10km cross country race for 2012, prior to boston 2013.

    Post mortem Melbourne Marathon 2011

official time of 3hrs10min12s, a Boston Qualifying time, so hope to do the Boston Marathon in 2013 (needed a sub 3hr25m to qualify). About 90 seconds faster than the Williamstown marathon from May this year, and almost 10 minutes faster than last year's Melbourne Marathon. Time to take it easy before revising my training program for next year's races.

    Preparation for Melbourne Marathon 2011

in the throes of training for my third Melbourne Marathon. Finally able to start shedding a few kilograms. Had put on a few kilograms since my weight loss of a few years ago, despite regular exercise. Having done both, it's harder to maintain the weight loss than it is to run a marathon. Anyway, hope to make it to the starting line fit and injury free in 9 weeks.

    Report on Williamstown Marathon

3 hours, 11 minutes, 50 seconds. Bettered my previous marathon time by 8 minutes. Took an ice bath after the race which was brutal, but seems to have made a difference. 19 weeks to the Melbourne Marathon.

    Tapering

it's Taper time again, as the marathon is 3 weeks away, and mileage will also remain lower than usual for 4 weeks following the race. Have picked up a bit of speed over the past few months, so am hopeful of a good time on race day.
