About Me
I've been average, I've been fit and thin, and now I'm big. I developed hypothyroidism in my late 30s (I'm 46 now) and I take medication for another condition as well. Together they send my heart rate sky-high when I exercise, but I'm coping with the help of a heart rate monitor. (Best Xmas present ever.) I joined Weight Watchers to lose weight after my first pregnancy, and ended up working as a group leader for about five years. My second pregnancy, I left the hospital about 5 pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight. So... my weight gain happened well after having kids. (I weigh around 50 pounds more than I did when I was 9 months pregnant with kid #2.) I also went through fitness instructor training and taught water aerobics for several years. When I went back to full-time work (I worked part-time when the kids were small), I had to give up teaching. Now I go to various classes, swim laps and do my best to keep up. So it goes!

Back again.
Well, it's been an adventure. Getting up at 6 AM has become nearly impossible, and I found out why. My thyroid levels are all screwed up. I'm now taking a synthetic thyroid medication, and I'll get my levels tested again in about 6 weeks. Then we'll adjust again, and maybe I'll have my morning mojo back. (But it hasn't just been morning. I've been sleepy round the clock.) Anyway, I decided to check out a different health club that happens to be located right by my YMCA. It has several advantages: it's small, the classes are free for members (even specialty classes like yoga), there are free towels/lockers, and they have a salt water pool. I'm doing a trial week, and attended my first class yesterday evening: Power Pump. Holy cow, it was good. I realized how out of shape I am, though. I have no idea what I weigh, but I know it's more than I did when I stopped recording here. I'm feeling good about this process for the first time in months, though. :)

Thanks!
Finally! Now to get my waist below that theoretically "unhealthy" measurement of 35 inches. How are you feeling? Sorry your belly was giving you troubles.

Back to work(out)
Well, I made it to step aerobics this morning. Getting out of bed isn't easy when it's still so dark outside. Not only that, but it's still dark when I'm done with class! That will change in a few weeks, but the tradeoff is that the sun will set so much earlier. Oh well. :)

Hope you're feeling much better
Thanks for the invite! I hope you're all better from the virus or whatever it was. Glad to have you along on the journey. You are so close to busting through 200! It feels so good, believe me!
