About Me
I have emphysema, and chronic neuritis of both arms. Live a sedentary lifestyle and I still smoke. Since my husband was laid off in December I have gotten even more sedentary and spend ALL of my time on the computer. I love playing with my grandchildren but I am finding it much harder to breath with the extra weight I have gained in the last few months. This is the heaviest I have ever been and would like to drop 20 lbs and quit smoking. I know I need this but I am having a very hard time getting myself motivated to do something about. I don't like looking fat nor do I like being out of breath all the time but don't know how exactly to get myself on the bandwagon to change it. I am hoping for some inspiration!

Day 1
I got on the treadmill and discovered that my hip still has pain from the artery blockage. It has been 9 weeks since the stent was put in but it still hurts. I will break up the 30 min into 2 segments of 15 min in order to complete this exercise. I hope it wont take long to recondition that hip and get rid of the pain. 15 min down 15 to go! Just finished dinner - we had chicken fried steaks with mashed potatoes and corn. It's not something I cook on a usual basis but hubby bought them last week so we had them. Aside from 3 pieces of toast with butter that's all I ate today and went over my calorie limit by almost 500!!!!!! Who knew it would add up so fast. I will have to be more careful from now on. Oh and 40 ounces of pepsi too. Just finished the last half of my 30 min. walk. I was working up from 1.7 to 2.5 in about 1 1/2 min. By the time I reached 4 min my hip was hurting. By 5 min. I had to slow down to 2.0, I went up and down with the speed to manage the pain. YEA - first day is done, a lifetime to go....
