BeautifullyBroken's Journal
Seriously Lacking Discipline!!
Okay, so in my last message I wrote a wonderful piece of discipline vs. motivation. Problem is...I was feeling motivated when I wrote it and am really struggling with the staying disciplined part. I haven't done much in the way of working out in the last couple weeks, although I've been a little better at keeping my food journal. I have realized that I eat WAY too many carbs..so that's a start. As I write this I am sitting on the couch in my PJ's contemplating getting up to do my elliptical session, I know I need to...I know that despite the motivation I need to discipline myself to do it, but all is easier said then done. Hopefully you will see an Exercise entry for today before the afternoon is over!

Discipline vs. Motivation
My entire life I have been a person driven by motivation. The problem with that is that some days I am extremely motivated and ready to conquer the world and all it's problems and other days...well..not so much. It's those 'not so much' days that would send me into a downward spiral and undo any progress I had made in my life. Whether is was weight loss..my job...whatever. I have learned recently to flip my switch from being motivated to being disciplined. Sure being motivated and staying that way is great...but if we are disciplined in our lives then even on those days where motivation lacks, we will still be successful in all that we attempt to accomplish. After 8 years of struggling to lose 40 lbs I'm done trying to stay 'motivated' and ready to be discliplined!!
