Back from the Jungle
I've just returned from serving a week-long In Camp Training (ICT) in the Army and to be honest was way too tired and it would've been just too troublesome to update this site. so I've fallen off the wagon a little bit, but now i'm back on it and rarin' to go. it's time to get back to food tracking, budgeting and all those other aspects of regular human life again. and it never seems to take much more than a week in Green to exponentially increase your appreciation to all things civilised, logical and progressive. say, capitalism and white collar work....

Ankle breaker
So over the weekend I went on a 15km run, first 9km at a reasonably easy pace, and then tried picking up the speed over the last 6km. but still finished in 1hr 39m which isn't so great. not to mention that later in the day, my ankle starting acting up real weird with a sorta burning, shooting pain up the outside near that ankle bump. real weird and has definitely thrown a wrench in my training plan, not to mention weight loss plan. since then, it's just been to infinity and beyond for me. sorta. I've always found it harder to regulate food than to increase exercise. which is the fundamental reason why i get fat whenever i get injured. gotta get back on the wagon today. slow run. that's the plan. looonng sloooow run.

Yakult Fiending
I feel like a vampiric god, preying on an innocent refridgerator village. Prying open it's village gates and peering down on the poor unsuspecting bottles of yakult, mildly contemplating which flavor shall be the first to understand the sense of impending doom that has descended like a shadow over them. I let them wallow in their anxiety, allowing it to build and crescendo, then the trap was sprung! Lightning fast, Bottle after bottle, Picked up and pierced by my straw fangs, sucked dry until they were just husks of their former selves. One by One, they were drained and tossed aside until only 1 remained, afraid and alone. I took my time, and in hindsight perhaps i was too complacent, drunk on power. As I reached for it, i knew something was amiss. Then rearing back with my straw, I pounced like a god in all his magnificent fury! but GAH! Urk! I dropped the bottle, staring malevolently at it. The perfect defense and most unexpected. it had turned to ice. finally a worthy adversary. I slunk away, but i knew it would not be able to hold its defenses forever. i would be back and revenge would be mine..

Basketballing
I'd never imagined I would be nervous or tense when it came to playing pick-up basketball. but it's been about 1.5yrs since i've played pick-up (and destroyed my ACL in the process) and i'm just about back from the ACL reconstruction rehab. not to mention that i've been watching these guys play and they're not too shabby. so obviously the question was whether i could hold my own, and whether my knee was up to the task. I managed to get in on their run and didn't dominate, but didn't play too shabbily either. Some basic fundamentals are still there, the ball handling and boxing out needs some work, and not to mention my on court fitness! But man it felt good to be out there on the court. Running, cutting, hitting baby hooks. I may just work more on my post game while easing into my return to basketball. probably a safer bet than chasing the little speedsters out on the perimeter...i ain't 18 no more y'know.
