    Thanks

its definitely rewarding but also tiring lol yep :) been there just over 2 years now. Well main goal - be healthy, as in be a healthy weight, eat healthy and keep active in a healthy lifestyle, why - for health and happiness. How to do it - well just make the changes i need to foodwise pick better choices and be more active (if thats possible with my job!). You're right i know what to do already its just a case of action now, i keep doing the 'tomorrow' thing. I guess i feel disheartened before ive started because i feel negative about my body already and i know its going to be hard to get where i want to be again and that thought just exhausts me. Argh.

    Health

I'm feeling a lot better than I was when I was in hospital. I had to go through some horrible procedures to get well again but I'm grateful that those facilities were in place even though I wouldn't go through that willingly. Things are picking up though, I managed to do 10 squats today and I can walk 1/2 a mile with crutches and potter around the house unassisted :-) I'll be on the stationary bike next week to start getting some strength and motion back. How have things with you been?

    definitely

agree with you, and doesnt exercise aid weight loss? so even if i did something small like 30 mins a few days a week with my better eating? I think i did overexercise and burn myself out the last time, and i say im on my feet 5-6 hours what i really mean is im rushing about around a care home up and down stairs for that time lol but yeah i agree with you on not needing carbs all the time. I think i got into too much of doing things wrong and i got ill and obsessed, this time im gonna not be so OCD about everything and im gonna aim for not as such a low weight as before, i know myself i didnt feel healthy being so thin. I'd love to do running like before i enjoyed that but lets start basic first!

Ive not been eating too badly as in overeating, havent done that in a while, just havent been having much fruit and veg etc not much variety as usual, been stuck on beans on toast with chicken for a wee while cuz when i come in from work its 9/10pm and im too tired and its late but urgh feel like its gotta stop!

About Me

I recorded my highest body fat percentage and weight on October 29, 2007 at over 30% of body fat (estimate somewhere around 33%) and almost 145 lbs. I never want to go back there again. My overarching goal is to feel healthy and fit so I can do lots of fun things! I find this extra important now that I have a debilitating neurological illness. I committed to eating a paleolithic diet (paleo) on March 24, 2011 after dabbling with it for a while, and also strive to live the primal lifestyle. It's unlike anything I've ever experienced. On my good days it makes me feel like Super Woman, and this way of eating makes getting and staying lean embarrassingly easy. My heroes, in alphabetical order, are: Loren Cordain, Mark Sisson, Gary Taubes, Tom Venuto (not paleo or low carb but valuable for other reasons), and Robb Wolf. They all have websites and/or (E)books which offer a wealth of information that will change your life! I recommend you explore http://www.marksdailyapple.com/welcome-to-marks-daily-apple/#axzz1n5PdLo7j if you're interested in this kind of eating/lifestyle (make sure you click on Primal Blueprint 101 for lots of info). Note, it's what you eat and how much you eat that largely dictates whether you're in fat storage- or fat burning mode. Fixing your nutrition is the key to losing body fat. The mind is an essential factor for success as well. Loving and respecting yourself is so important. That takes some courage if your body is not where you want it to be! Be mindful that you don't start using diet or exercise as a punishment vs. a vehicle for positive change. I've seen, and done, both. People who eat much less than their bodies need (not just "skinny" people but people of all shapes and sizes) particularly saddens me greatly. It's very harmful! http://www.freedomfly.net/Articles/Nutrition/nutrition14.htm has the Harris-Benedict formula and the Katch-McArdle formula to calculate caloric needs for gain, maintenance and fat loss. See how you stack up!
