    Sugar Addiction

Today is the first day of no sugar. I didn't add any to my coffee and I'm promising myself that I won't go to Yogurtland after dinner. By no sugar, I mean no added sugar. I'll still eat foods with natural sugars in them, but I will not eat cookies, ice cream, etc that have processed refined sugar. I realize that I am addicted to it because every night I start to get a craving for something sweet. Hopefully this will work out because I heard that the first couple days are going to be awful.

    BMI

Over Spring Break I weighed myself for the first time in a long time. I weighed 172.5!!!! That means my BMI is on the brink of being in the obese range. I never thought I'd ever weigh that much and it just made things worse with my mom. She started pointing out that type 2 diabetes runs in her family and that I need a physical. But I have to remind myself that a lot of the reason why I weigh so much is because I've gained A LOT of muscle in my legs and arms. So I've decided that I'm going to go to a nutritionist and see if they can calculate the percentage of body fat I have to really see if I'm considered obese.

    Santa Barbara Shootout Weekend

I'm in Santa Barbara all weekend for a lacrosse tournament and I already know it's going to be really difficult to watch what I eat. Especially after last night when I went over to the house for dinner, I just ate whatever I felt like. So this weekend, I'm only going to drink one night (Sunday) and I'm going to eat foods that fuel my body instead of junk, so I won't feel crappy at the games.

    First Day

I've always eaten healthy but I've been horribly with portion sizes. It took a lot of will power not to eat the second piece of whole wheat toast this morning because it tasted so good. But looking at myself in the mirror before I left the house really made me want to stick with this. And doing this with my roommate is very motivating because she is already skinny and lost weight over break and I'm just ballooning up. I know this is going to be difficult but I really need to make a life change instead of just doing this to construct myself to norm of what my body should look like.
