I think it's great that you have become more aware of the portion sizes of your foods in order to log them in Gyminee better. It's always interesting how habits begin to change when you actual start tracking them. Although I will have to remove you as a GymBuddy for the purposes of this class, you can always be my GymBuddy using my other regula Gyminee account (username: befitt). Feel free to stay in touch. And good luck with all of your health and fitness goals.

Gyminee has helped me realize exactly how unhealthy my eating habits are/were. I liked how it makes a pie chart for the amount of carbs, proteins, and fat in my diet. This is valuable to me because I realize I need to work on limiting the amount of carbohydrates I consume. Logging my food also helps me decide on what I will eat for dinner ( based on calories, etc.) and I am now in the habit of measuring my serving size to make logging my food in Gyminee easier. This helps me consume less (because I always try to clear my plate!) and is good motivation. Tracking my workouts has been disappointing. I never realized how much work you have to do to burn calories! Some exercises that I do are no where near the amount of calories I would expect to burn, while others are way more than I would expect. When I look and see how many calories I’ve burned for the day, it motivates me to burn more calories. I may go jogging and burn 200 calories, then once I’ve relaxed I am in the mood to exercise more and will set a goal to burn 500 calories. I am happy to be a part of exercise programs and will take the most advantage of them next week during spring break especially during the summer. I will continue using Gyminee because it does help me achieve healthier goals as I’ve already mentioned and I am planning on taking exercise more serious and I love being able to track the amount of calories I’ve burned. I will continue to use the same account and keep any friends from class that want to keep me around. =]

I liked how you tackled the muscle soreness question, describing the tears in the muscles and advocating the importance of a good warm-up and cool down! Very effective! :) Also, in terms of your question about Diet soda (Coke Zero, etc), make sure you go back and see all the answers that were posted under your question. I've included my response, as well.

I answered the following 3 questions: 1. FORUM: FITNESS & EXERCISE (topic: best exercises for lower abs? belly button area?) 2. FORUM:General Discussion (topic: Remedies for soarness) 3. Diet and Nutrition (topic:??? for Vegetarians) The question I chose to ask is in the Diet Nutrition Forum and called Does diet soda prevent weight loss? This is something I've been curious about for quite some time but when I try to do research I never get a complete answer.

May I just say, everyone should add you as a GymBuddy because you are the best motivator ever! Your comments are well-written and have genuine thought behind them. It is clear you have taken the time to evaluate a person's progress, their likes and dislikes, and their struggles to provide intelligent and helpful tips to keep them on track! Amazing job this week!! Just one note: I noticed that you have recommended eating 'negative calories' to a fellow student. You might want to read and/or listen to this podcast that talks about the myths of negative calories so you can be more familiar and educated about the topic. http://nutritiondiva.quickanddirtytips.com/negative-calorie-foods.aspx
