How much to eat.
I saw your post on the 5lb Challenge regarding where to start. Regarding "how much you exercise" - I would answer that question as if it were asked, "in the past year how many times per week have you exercised?" If the number is 3-4, then go with that, if it is 0, then go with that. It is quite possible (even likely) that you will have too many or too few calories at first; you just need to go week to week and make adjustments. Once you go to a clean diet, you might see a dramatic weightloss up front - this is partly because your body is getting rid of excess waste (in your colon). If you combine that with exercise, you might also see some water weight reduction. So if you lose 5+ pounds in the first week, it doesn't necessarily mean you should increase your caloric intake. Give it three weeks. If on week 3 you lose more than 2 pounds, then consider eating more per day (increase by small amounts, like say 200 or 300 calories per day). If you are losing LESS than 1 pound per week, consider decreasing calories per day.
