Fatso McGurk's Journal
New Year Greeting
Hi, Patrick ... It's Friday, 1/2/09. I've only lost 1 pound in the last month, but I have taken 2 inches off my waist, which is encouraging. Hope this finds you well. Call when you get a chance. Love, Dad

Wishful Thinking # 2
Hi, Patrick: I wrote you a nice message, then hit the screen outside the box and it disappeared, and, I assume, did not go through. Very frustrating. First of all, throughout my adult life I have considered myself to be 5' 8 &1/2" in height. How can you consider my entering my height as 5'8" an example of wishful thinking. If anything, it was undue modesty. Harrumph! I gained a pound since yesterday, undoubtedly because I finished what had been a very moderate day with a too large portion of your mother's spaghetti, a too large portion of ice cream with your mother's raspberry sauce, and too much nibbling as I stripped the remaining meat from your mother's Thanksgiving turkey from the carcass on its route to the garbage pail. So ... as you can see ... it's predominantly your mother's fault! Still, it did remind me how important portion sizes are, and how you can wipe out all the benefits of a day well spent by not being sufficiently on guard at night when all your well-ingrained self-destructive demons emerge. I see you have lost 5 to 6 pounds. That's great. Lose another 6 and you'll probably start shooting par. Keep up the good work. Dad

Wishful Thinking!

Swimming
1/2 mile is impressive Mr. McGurk. Do you track your heart rate through all of this. Also, in order to calculate your BMI and your % Body Fat, you need to make sure you submit the right data on hight-- I think you may have applied a little wishful thinking there ;-)

Dad On Board
Patrick ... This is great. Thanks for making me a gymbuddy. I ran upstairs, stripped, weighed myself and measured all my muscles. This is a wonderful use of the internet. I'm going swimming in an hour and will try to use this website to discipline myself. Talk to you soon. Dad
