Paleo is wonderful
I have been trying to eat paleo and since I'm new at this I've been doing the 85:15 which is three cheat meals a week. Whenever I cheat though, I have a terrible upset stomach. It just goes to show that grains and dairy really are not good for us. The challenge for me with this way of eating is that it takes so long to prepare meals with all the chopping and cutting, not to mention planning out the meals. How have you been able to stay paleo?

Primal Convert!
Yep, I'm going Primal people! I loved the paleo challenge (and I believe I've discovered that I have celiac disease, or at the very least I am very gluten-senstive). Not a bad thing, but I sure am missing bread. I had a piece of buttered bread to celebrate coming off the challenge and I was sick for a full day. Mind you, this was ONE PIECE of garlic bread! Oh well. I can actually see the difference; the bit of fat I had is literally disappearing and I'm working on the definition a bit. I've got my "two-pack" (the first two abs show very nicely, and that's what the boys call it, as opposed to a six-pack). The second row is starting to show up and hopefully by the end of May I'll post pictures ranging from 2009 to present. Yes, even though I've not been trying to lose a lot of weight, the difference is astonishing - and it's taken a long time. But I admit it's been easier since switching to paleo.

The First Week of Paleo
So I started the paleo challenge and I've done it for a whole week. I really LOVE eating this way. I have always been a meatatarian and it's nice to get back to my old ways. I'm feeling so much better (and I didn't feel "bad" to begin with). I sleep better, and I'm happy all the time. The other day I actually felt euphoric for no reason at all - and that's without exercise! I have accidentally cheated at least once (absentmindedly grabbed four Cheez-Its out of a bowl I was fixing for my son) but I caught myself mid-chew and didn't eat anymore (yes, I swallowed them!). I haven't really had any cravings though, I guess because I've been leaning this way more and more as I got in better shape. I will probably reintroduce some dairy when I finish the challenge. I'm not a huge cheese eater, but the occasional bowl of ice cream will be nice. I'm not strict about anything so the idea of regular pizza still sounds appealing too. Of course, if I reintroduce grains and they make me sick, I will probably avoid them (there is that likelihood, I realise - I am allergic to wheat) for the most part. If you're thinking about trying it, I highly recommend the paleo challenge. What could be more fun than having a steak and a salad for supper? You know that's all you want anyway! :-)

It's been awhile...
...since I posted an entry on this blog - mostly because I do it somewhere else. I've been nursing a torn posterior tibial tendon for the last eight weeks or so, so I haven't been working out much. I haven't run since December 28th and that's driving me crazy, and just this past week I started doing my floor exercises again because I was starting to get disgusted with myself for being such a couch potato. But, I'm trying to get back in the swing and with a little luck I'll be able to run again in a month or so (hopefully even sooner, but I plan on letting this puppy heal well, because I really *like* the arch of my foot)!

Dragging Today
There was an end-of-year school party today that I had to stand around for all morning. I was exhausted when it was over and I'm still feeling it. I managed a workout but I'm skipping the run tonight (only 100 calories on the elliptical too). Hopefully the standing burned a few extra calories but I'm guessing it's more due to the low bp problems that I'm wasted. Oh well, back to work tomorrow!
