    Week 8? Update

It's been a while since my last update, so here it goes. I've lost 6lbs to date! YaY!!! Very exciting. The Jillian Michaels detox actually worked, which is kind of crazy. I'm doing a 8 day cleanse/detox now. No fasting like I usually do, but I'm basically on a very strict vegan diet, with no caffeine, alcohol, added salt, sugar, wheat, or anything that is processed. I'm in day 5 and so far so good. It seams that my cravings are towards certain things, not dairy, like cheeses, but for sugar and bread. It's been interesting. My last day is the 21st of October, since Rob's Halloween Party is on the 22nd and I don't want to only eat the olives all night. On the exercise front, its been a very weak showing on my part. I really haven't done much of anything over the past few weeks but the occasional walk at lunch. I did the Biggest Loser Boot Camp DVD this morning and it kicked my ass. I am SO out of shape. But that's part of this whole detox thing, too. Making me work at something to improve myself and to get my butt in gear. I'm revising my goal. The new goal is to loose a total of 14lbs by Thanksgiving. That leaves me 8lbs to go in the next 6 weeks. This a completely doable goal and I need to DO IT!

    Week 4 Update

This past week has been better, not great, but better. I made balanced lunches for the week and a couple of egg breakfasts that I can take to work. I've exercised somewhat regularly doing yoga last night before bed (I will be repeating this tonight and tomorrow and the following night, etc!) and walking at work. I also got up at 5am! to do some Turbo Jam and plan on repeating the experience tomorrow. Another point of progress over the week is that I had my fiance take some really awful, but truthful, photos of me in a bathing suit and I posted them around the house. There's a photo next to the bed, on the snooze button on the alarm clock, taped to the remote in the living room, on the cheese drawer in the fridge, and a few other places. This had better work! I also started this 14 day detox thing with Jillian Michaels on the cover. I have no idea if it's actually working but it's only been 4 days. We'll see what happens in the next week. I'm still planning on doing some kind of fast/detox over a short period, probably around 7 days instead of the full two weeks I was thinking about before. I still I haven't lost any weight but I feel like I'm much more focused and in control of my destiny with my body. So to restate the goal is to loose 19lbs by Thanksgiving, Nov. 26th and I will do it!!!!

    Week 3 Update

So last week was pretty much a bust. Went out to eat several times and generally didn't pay attention enough to what I was eating. I also didn't record anything I ate last week which seems to help me pay attention to what I'm putting into my body. I also only worked out like one day and only went for walks at work two days. As for my news goals and habits outlined last time, here's the update. 1) Have been really good about not falling asleep with the TV on. Haven't really noticed a difference yet. 2) Alarm clock has been moved and it is a bigger pain in the butt, but I'm still going back to bed after I get up. Need to work on this more! 3) I had a bad week last week and I'm not giving up. I did think about it, but I know that's it not an option and this week I need to double my efforts to make up for it. 4) Haven't really done this at all....will start again today. I am very disappointed in myself. I'm almost at my 1 month mark and I haven't lost any weight. I'm supposed to be down 5lbs by now and nothing. I haven't been working hard enough on this and with all of the wedding stuff, I think it's been distracting me from getting my act together. My goals for the next two weeks are the following: 5) Plan and execute a detox diet and fast over 14 days. 6) Do 1 workout DVD and a 30 minute walk/jog/yoga class/jump rope/etc. everyday. 7) Diligently record everything I eat 8) Take unflattering photos of myself and place them around my apartment in strategic places to motivate me and discourage me from straying from the plan.

    Week 1 update

It's been one week since I have truly started to work on myself. Typically when I do this, it's all about the exercise and not so much on the food. This time, I'm finding myself much more dedicated in the food department than exercise. It's interesting to try and figure out why. Here are some of the things I'm going to start tonight to help me get up in the morning and sweat. 1) Going to sleep withOUT the TV on. 2) Moving the alarm clock across the room instead of in arms reach of the bed. 3) Not giving up on what I'm doing if I have an off day. 4) Preparing all of my exercise equipment before bed. Those goals/new habits will begin tonight!

getting married and don't want to be fat anymore!

so i'm engaged! very exciting!!!! we have decided on a venue and a date, but i'm feeling not so great about my body. i wanted to loose all this weight i've been carrying around 5 years ago, but it hasn't happened. i haven't made the full on commitment to make it happen, at least not consistently. this wedding needs to be the ultimate motivation for finally loosing the weight and keeping it off. we're not getting married for another year and a few months, so the new goal is to loose 20lbs by thanksgiving. that's 5 lbs a month for the next 4 months. this will also mean that i'll be down to the weight i want by the time i'll start dress shopping and i'll have a year to maintain my new body which should turn into the my maintenance program for life. that's the plan and I WILL DO IT this time!!!
