hey
yeah the best way to improve any time is to do it one mile at a time. This system works 4 me. say you want to run a 5k at a 8 min mile pace. Run one mile at an 8 min pace. if you cant then train till you can. once you can do one mile at that pace, try for 2 miles at that pace. Keep running till you can do 2 miles at an 8 min pace. and just continue this till you get to the distance you want. This is great cause it lets your body determine when its ready to progress. if you print a plan off the internet you pace and training is being based of a internet projection instead of your body's feedback. hope this helped...
