    Back on track?

How are you doing getting back on track after the time at home? I hope you've been able to get back to the gym and keep it up!

    being at home

Being a college student and then going home for a long weekend really screws with things. I have had no time to record my exercise or nutrion and I have been going out to eat so much/not knowing how my food has been prepared I just gave up on trying to keep track. I haven't gained any weight so it wasn't a terrible week, but I also did not lose weight so I feel like I haven't made any progress. I know that it is time to get back on track! Sometimes I wonder if some of the meds I am am are limiting my ablity to get in shape. My body is just not responding to the amount of exercising I am doing. Plus I am only eating about 1,200 calories a day, which I know is low. I do not know, I am need to contact my doctor and find if it is something I am doing wrong or if I need to stop worrying and let my meds do their job.

    Protein and carbs...the endless battle

Thanks for the post about your protein and carbs. I am glad I am not alone in all of this. I really spent some time researching other ways for me to get enough protein and start cutting down my carbs. But it definitely sounds like your additional restrictions make this really hard for you. Have you thought about going to a nutritionist? I think that would be just as useful as a personal trainer. My new strategy is trying to get 15-20g of protein at each of my 5 small meals a day. We'll see how that goes!

    P.s.

Glad you joined the christmas challenge! I can't wait to see my family over the holidays, but I am definitely hoping for the "holy crap!" kind of reaction when I step off the plane :)

    Personal trainers

My only advice on the personal trainer is to be very specific about your goals. They can be great for motivation and they want to see you be successful, but be honest about what you want. Most are incredibly awesome and ask what you're looking for from the beginning. But make sure you're really clear with them. My sister is a trainer and she is awesome to work out with, but where I did the most "weight loss" was hitting the cardio machines hard. She was really strict about me working out with her on strength for an hour, and then I had to do at least an hour of cardio. It has to be the right combination for you. And of course, don't pay some personal trainer to sit there when you're on the treadmil :) Get your money's worth and really work on areas you want to tone when you're with the trainer...but ask for recommendations about interval training on the cardio machines to help with the weightloss too. But keep it up! It's a big step just to commit to go and train. And don't get discouraged! It is all part of the bigger goal.
