About Me
I gained my weight in high school and college. Mostly due to bad eating habits carried over from when I was a very active and athletic kid with a high metabolism. I started working on losing it when I realized that my lifestyle was going to kill me. Through nothing more than hard work I lost 40 pounds. Then I lost my dad, an extraordinarily healthy person, to a freak heart attack. Once I got over the shock I went into a deep depression and diet and exercise just went out the window. Now I'm in therapy and part of my process is getting back on target with my workouts. My goal is to have a healthy mind and body. It's hard work but I've done it before and I'll do it again.

Paleo, um...
Ok so I've made a decision on this whole paleo diet thing. The 90% that's about eating protein, essential fats, and low GI carbs I'm all in for. But the no dairy, no grains part I'm leaving because there just isn't enough justification that works for me. Not to mention, there seems to be some fast and loose with what is and isn't covered by the diet. For example, milk isn't paleo but butter and yogurt are?!

Train. Fight. Win.
I joined a new gym with a training program and so far it's going well. We're doing resistance based fitness 4 times a week. Including major lifts twice a month and monthly benchmarks. I'm also training for a 5k.They've also got me on a modified version of the paleolithic diet: protein, fat, and low gi carbs with a focus on fresh whole foods.

Back on Track
So I went off grid this weekend mostly because I was having a crap week. So I let myself splurge and I gained a pound or two but today I got up on time, I worked out before work and so far sticking to my meal plan has not been an issue. I think sometimes taking a break is important as long as it's only for a day or two. It's like hitting reboot on your program. And I also got to see how bad my diet was in comparison. The candy I used to love doesn't even taste right anymore and downing a 2 liter of coke and a large pepperoni pizza doesn't feel as good as it used to. I think that's where the biggest change in my life has been. Eating right out of habit and not gorging myself out of boredom or sadness.

Yaay for new meds
So the past month I've been really messed up. I thought it was about Smith dying but that didn't feel like it was the answer. I rode it out until my monthly talk therapy appointment came around and my counselor referred me to a psychiatrist. The shrink upped my dosage. Today is 5 days with the new prescription and I feel way better. So better I did a tabata this morning. A real tabata. The one set then pass out variety.
