    3rd 5K race coming up on 1/16/11

I am so excited to participate in my 3rd 5K race on Sunday, 1/16/11. The last one I did was 12/31/10. I was bummed that there were no races nearby this weekend but 1/16 will come up quickly and there are 2 more races the next two weekends on Fri. 1/21, and Sun, 1/30, so lots of fun runs to look forward to!

    Getting ready for my 3rd race / 2nd 5K on Dec 11th

Can't wait for my 3rd race and 2nd 5K on Saturday Dec. 11th. I have found a new love in running. There's something special about running for good causes and the feeling of togetherness when running with hundreds of other people. My running goals continue to be: 1) never stop running and 2) beat my previous time. Once I have some consistent PR's, my next goal will be to place in the top 10 of my age group. In my past 2 races, I've placed 16 and 17 in my age group so that goal is definitely possible and just within my reach. I think I just need to start a little stronger to get ahead for the remainder of the race. We'll see...

Getting ready for my 2nd race!

I am so excited to participate in my 2nd race - 5K Jingle Bell Run - on Saturday, 12/4! Even a snowstorm can't keep me from doing it, unless they cancel the race :-)

    Lost weight over Thanksgiving!

This morning before I weighed myself, I was expecting to see weight gain from Thanksgiving, Friday and Saturday while spending time with my family, because that's what happens every year. However, when I saw that I had lost weight (down to 125.9 - only 0.9 lb away from my goal weight), I was at first in disbelief and then THRILLED! After thinking about it, I realized I was doing everything right over the past 4 days without much work or thought, which tells me my healthy lifestyle "changes" have become habits...2nd nature!!! I worked out every day leading up to Thanksgiving, ran the Turkey Day Run the morning of Thanksgiving, walked the dogs several times, ate only half portions of everything on my plate when we went out to eat, and continued to track my food each day.

All better and back on track!

I am so happy I'm over that dumb cold. This past week, I've been working out at the gym in place of Boot Camp, which thankfully starts again on Mon. 11/22! Next week, I will do Boot Camp on Mon, Tue and Fri. On Wed, I will do Cardio Craze class at the gym and on Thu, I am participating in the 32nd Annual Turkey Day Run - 2-mile race. Looking forward to a great week ahead.

About Me

At 36 years old, I feel the best I've ever felt in my entire life due to the positive lifestyle changes I've made with eating right and staying active since October 2009. In addition, going to the Biggest Loser Resort in Ivins, Utah with my sister in September 2010 was life changing. While it was the most challenging and difficult thing I've ever done, it was the best and most amazing experience of my life. I did things there I never thought possible and I have a completely different mindset about exercising and eating right. Exercising and eating right is not about looking a certain way or hitting an unrealistic number on the scale. It's about feeling great - inside and outside. It's about pushing myself and achieving goals I never thought possible. It's about taking care of the only body I have in this one lifetime. I'm not going to be 36 forever. I plan to remain active and be happy and healthy for many years to come. Making these positive lifestyle changes is the only way I'm truly going to achieve that!
