    September Goals

So I have been here awhile, and chasing my goals for awhile. I feel healthier and I look a bit better, but I know I can do better. So, a reevaluation is in order! Here are my goals for September: 1) Track nutrition daily. 2) Cut out all alcohol. 3) Workout 5 days a week minimum. I have decided to end my red meat ban at the end of the month because it is difficult when traveling and I think other changes to my diet will be more beneficial during the holiday season (ah!sweets!). Also, classes start in a couple weeks and I need to get the proper habits in place so everything doesn't fall apart when my priorities shift. I think these goals are completely realistic, and I am excited to see what changes the month will bring!

    C25K Week 2, Day 1

I spent a good amount of time at the gym today, and am feeling it now! I did the first workout of week 2, which was definitely a move up in difficulty, but manageable. I also did strength training on my legs and core. An older man who I have seen many times at the gym talked to me and called me "diligent" in my workout, which was neat. I am really hungry today. I plan on buying groceries later today, and will be stocking up on yogurt, fruits and vegetables, and also eggs and a morning protein like turkey sausage. That worked really well for me last time.

    End of C25K Week 1

I am about to complete my last workout for week 1 of the Couch to 5K challenge. So far it is going well. I don't consider myself a runner, but I want this program will change that. I want to be the type of person who feels that running helps them think and brings clarity; a special "me" time that lets one think of the decisions they are making and so on. For so long now I have viewed losing weight as the goal of exercise, but when I think of the hard work that went into losing the first 25 lbs I feel that the mental benefits are what make me feel proud. Anyway, I am really hoping that DailyBurn will help me with all of this. It will take awhile to adjust to what is free and what is only available in "Pro" (a minor difference from sparkpeople, but I think this site will prove more effective simply because the focus isn't on the mental struggle for health but the physical challenges). I took my measurements today, and wish to note that I measured my waist at the most narrow point, and my left thigh where I could hold the tape with my thumb while standing straight up. I measured my hips at 3" below the belly button, and it was 40".
