Why do I keep forgetting this?
Last night, we went out for a nice dinner. And with dinner, I had a couple of glasses of wine, a bit of sorbet, and a few items that were breaded. Today, I am experiencing the purge-the-poisons reaction. AGAIN. Yuck.

Short-term Goal: lose 9 lbs by May 27.
We leave for vacation on Memorial Day weekend. I want to be under 200 lbs by then, preferably with my body fat under 37.5%. I already know that I will not maintain the diet on vacation (who the @#$% refuses pasta and gelato while in Italy, or beer and chocolate while in Belgium, or wine and pastry while in the south of France?)... but we will be walking ALL THE TIME, so I don't think I'll put on too much weight. And OMG, it will be worth it!

Little differences start to add up
After about a month of clean diet and reconditioning, there are some little differences I'm noticing... My face looks a little leaner. My skin's clearing up a bit. I'm managing to go to Curves 3x a week, and am contemplating going to the Real Gym on the alternate days to do swimming and back exercises and extra stretching. I've put together a gym bag for that, just in case the whim takes me.

My Current System
Following PaNu (but including soft cheeses). Limiting alcohol and artificial sweeteners. Fasting one day a week. Supplementing with fish oil, D3, and a multivitamin. Attending Curves 3-4 times a week to get a foolproof full-body cardio/resistance/stretching workout. Still keeping an eye out for a good minimal-equipment home workout that I could do while travelling... but with my upper body so deconditioned, it's something I'll have to work up to.

Argh. Back again.
Well, I fell off the wagon pretty hard in November, and just crawled back on around March 1. In that time, I put on about all the weight I'd lost, and was back to 217.5 lbs. Friends raved about how much they likes SparkPeople, so I checked that out for a couple of weeks. And HATED it. The site is cluttered with a lot of glurge, it pushes a lot of facebook/myspace/ning busybodying, and half the features work poorly are cannot be adjusted. (Example, if you mention you are interested in learning about prediabetic conditions when you start up, you are marked as a full-blown diabetic for life. You cannot change it. You get daily prompts for glucose tests. You get "meaure my diabetes progress" as a goal that you cannot delete. The top of every nutrition page says "My Diabetes Nutrition Plan". ARGH.) Also, their site "help desk" consists of a small FAQ and a user forum where users can help each other try to troubleshoot bugs and site issues. There is NO way to actually contact the site owners, and there is no documentation for several features. One thing I like about SP and Daily Burn is having a journal. Nobody except similarly-motivated buddies enjoys reading these sorts of updates and notes... but it feels really good to write about them. I'm glad I can keep it here, where folks can "opt in" to hear me whine, rant, or recite my workout updates, rather than dump it on one of my more social sites where it'll hit the feed of folks who don't care.
