KM81's Journal
For the First Time
After reading through my previous entries I felt like I have finally changed for real. My intentions when I entered those were true, but I always found my way back to bad habits and that was evident since I could never get under 210, and eventually completely ballooned to 232. Well, I have been working at changing that since Thanksgiving 2009, and I have finally gotten under the 210 mark! My diet has completely changed, and Casey and I are cooking every meal at home. Not only that we are paying really close attention to what we make and taking the advice of such authors as Michael Pollan (In defense of Food). It has really made a world of difference. My intake of sweets is way down and I'm getting my fruit and vegetable counts up. I am almost 25 ponds down from my Thanksgiving weight, but I still have 30 to go for me to reach my goal. I finally feel like I can reach that goal with hard work and patience.

A little inspiration was found today.
I'm a little surprised to find a 2 pound drop over the past 4 days. All I can think of is that I am being faithful to the fact that I gave up soda and fried foods, which where the staples of my every meal, and because I am watching money more I have not had any fast food for about 10 days. Now if I can just get my schedule under 12 hours a day and go exercise more...

Time to start over
After a long hiatus I am re-energized to get my goals back on track. I pushed my exercise and eating habits out the window from Christmas until now. I was finishing school and working long hours, but now I will no longer let that be my excuse. I have once again set my all time heaviest weight record and I am drawing the line. I didn't end up being fit for summer, but now I hope to be well under way by the end of it. Here we go!

Thanksgiving week
As expected, I completely ignored all exercise and eating habits this past week. Having family in town and going out to eat almost every meal didn't help matters. Eating seemed to also be an activity we did to have something to do while we talked. There was also all the Thanksgiving food, desserts, and leftovers tempting me. This past weekend I didn't eat much, but drank a lot of energy drinks, which seems to be an easy thing to do while filming with the crew. Long hours and the need to stay energized tends to invite a cooler full of Rockstar or Red Bull and I once again was easily swayed into consuming plenty. The holiday season is just starting, and I know there will be plenty of Christmas parties with drink and dessert a plenty. I hope I can discover a new level of self control. I always have had issues with telling people that I am watching what I eat. They see it for what it is...which is a diet. Yet, I always hear things like, "It's a holiday, you should eat what you want." or "One day is not going to hurt." It's true, one day isn't going to hurt, but when everyday is that one day you go back to bad eating and no exercise. It's a new week, and I am starting again!
