Drowning out temptation
I've been very successful lately at down-sizing my meal proportions. I resist the temptation of the moment by picturing myself with the body I want while actively drowning out that subtle voice in the back of my head (that keeps reminding me how delicious the food is and that 'it's just one more bite') with mental screams and shouts of 'THAT'S MY BODY! IT'S MINE FOR THE TAKING!' etc. Hahah I probably sound like a madwoman. But my god, it works! And I'm going to continue doing it. Let's just hope I don't get too comfortable with myself and burst out screaming that aloud in public one day. Hahaha Just wanting to resist that voice that tempts you is not enough. If you don't SAY anything in your head, that quiet, gentle, coaxing voice will permeate your brain, and you will eat that second serving and you will LOSE. You need to actively think something to the contrary of what it is trying to make you do and drown it out, so that you can't hear a thing it utters. Good thing thoughts are just whispers. It makes resistance on our part easier.

As I discovered during the Physics Boat Day on Thu
SWIMMING is a very beneficial and enjoyable pastime. It must have been years now since I've last swam, and I'd forgotten how much I loved it!

Surround yourself in your success
Staying motivated is a key factor in working towards your goal. I noticed that I'm very fired up/motivated immediately following one of two things: meeting someone who is physically fit or reading articles on fitness. I need to begin inundating my days with short excerpts from fitness articles to keep myself going. Right now, I see a young habit of skimping out on workouts taking root in my life, and I am determined to kill it before it does any more damage.

Sleeping habits
I believe my sleeping habits are one of the root causes of my inability to stay consistent with my workout routine. I like to go to the gym during the night, anytime past 12am and before 4am, but I always tend to take a "nap" at around 8pm. My subconscious turns off the 7 alarms that I have scheduled to ring, and I end up always sleeping until 6am the next day.

Getting back in the game
For about a month or so during the hustle and bustle and stress of AP exam season, I had completely stopped working out and increased my consumption of high calorie, high sugar and fat, low nutritional value snack foods to cope with the stress. I paid the price for that by becoming NOTICEABLY pudgier (even to myself, which makes a huge statement). Even sucking in my stomach won't fool anyone anymore (this must be what post-pregnancy feels like...). But this past week, I've begun to get back on track. I've been running more than ever, stretching, doing ab workouts, and tying it all together with intense weight training. I've just gotten home from the gym about 3 hours ago (3am). Right now, my heart physically feels great. My biceps, middle deltoids and abs are wonderfully sore. I believe I may be able to achieve the lean, sculpted body I am aiming for very soon. The last missing ingredient is self-control, and I CAN supply that, I am just still in the process of learning how to.
