In Response to HIIT ???
Hey! Thanks for the kind words you posted. To answer your question about HIIT, I started out at 45/30 sprint/walk on the treadmill, and worked my way up to 60/45 over a period of a couple of weeks. My weight loss journey has been a long-term thing...months not weeks. It's been 13 months of hard work and now I'm at maintenance and not weight loss. I mostly use HIIT now as a quick way to get in a good workout with BIG calorie burn that continues throughout the day. During my weight loss time though, my DIET was the most important part. It's all about net calories at the end of the day. You may burn 800-1000 calories in an intense workout, but if you don't eat right you can completely wipe out your potential progress...and you've busted your ass for nothing =-) ... So my best advice is do what works for you on the HIIT (just make sure you are at exhaustion point on part 1 and *almost* fully recovered at the end of part 2); eat right; and invest in a heart rate monitor. It's really the best way to track your progress through HIIT and know if your interval times are right....Best of luck to you!!!

Intervals
Hi! Thanks for the encouragement on my Journal. You asked about intervals. I don't do intervals often, because I do High Intensity intervals (HIIT), and they are exhausting if done right. Mostly, I am a runner, and I try to run 5 KM or more. So I can't speak as to how they helped my weight loss. I DO know that they help my endurance - after doing a set of intervals, my next run is easier. I can go faster, or run further, than I could before. They've helped me get over a hump where I found a new distance hard to keep up. However, there has been research that has shown that HIIT burns calories long after the workout is over, and doing HIIT two or three times a week is as effective for weight loss as steady-state cardio.
