    sorry!

I didn't realize you'd posted a message meant for me--sorry I didn't see it! You've probably heard the saying that goes something like "insanity is continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different result." You can always do boot camp later if you want to. For now, if you're not getting results, why not quit and try something different? What we all need is some combination of weight training and cardio, with a healthy food plan that puts us in a caloric deficit. That's it. No reason why you can't get the workouts you need from your gym and/or at home. I can recommend a couple of good books about the basics of weight training and can certainly point you in the direction of the basic cardio principles. I know it's kind of scary to think of tackling the gym, but people do it all the time, and you can too. A couple of good books will explain how to do the movements, and you could always pay a trainer at your gym to give you a couple of sessions specifically to demonstrate correct form. I will be happy to recommend some key exercises that will give you the biggest bang for your buck. I also think you need to work on your thoughts. this may sound ridiculous, but you have to believe you can accomplish your goals in order to achieve them. Your body has no opinions on the subject of wanting to change or not. Your body is an incredibly responsive organism that is constantly in a state of change--either detraining when we are understimulated or adapting to greater demands. This adaptation is happening on the muscular, neurological, cellular, and hormonal levels. You supply the caloric deficit, the calorie burn through cardio and weights, and the muscular stimulus through weights, and you can't help but adapt by losing fat and gaining in strength. I don't mean to be a broken record, but are you 100 percent certain of your caloric intake through weighing and measuring literally every bite that goes in your mouth? We'll talk more! Post to my page to make sure I get your response . . . didn't mean to leave you hanging for three days!

    Ugh!

Feeling discouraged a bit. The scale is NOT moving. I'm wondering if my body just doesn't want to change. I'm going to stop boot camp at the end of the month. I've been doing it 3x a week for 6 months with no change in my measurements, weight or body fat. So why am I paying $200 a month for it on top of my gym membership? I odd have some kind of weird fear to tell the trainer I'm quitting. The last time I talked to her about this new Spring workout... she told me I was over thinking it. I told her I just want to make sure I understand and do it correctly because I want it to work. It would be nice to hear an encouraging word from her. I really think she's sick of my questions. Her heart is in the right place, but when I look around, my fellow campers don't seem to be melting away either. So what's up with that? I'm going to try weight training in April. Although the idea of it overwhelms me. I'm not sure what to do once I get there. I know the basics, but I'm never sure of myself. I want a work out that will burn fat and make me leaner. Maybe I can hire someone at the gym to give me some place to start. Glad you're feeling better!

    stronger than your class

yes, I'll bet you are! I always wish I could be in the same gym with people for a couple of hours to explore their strength level. But even if the boot camp isn't really building much muscle for you, it's burning calories. How many sessions have you had so far of the current class? I think my cold is just about history. I feel pretty much back to normal. Thanks for asking about that and the shoulder. Shoulder is about the same. I'm just doing my exercises and hoping the tendon will calm down pretty soon. I've avoiding any movements that cause it pain. I had a great leg workout in the gym today, though. The refeed days I had on Friday and Saturday made a huge difference in my energy level in the gym (and I'm pretty energetic to begin with).

    Title...

Yes it is progress, thanks. I'm keeping my nutrition in check with this site. I'm trying to stay positive. Hoping this 6 week boot camp thing works! But I'm starting to think I'm stronger than this class. How are you feeling? Still have a cold? How's your shoulder? Marla
