Congrats!
Hey Mickey, I just saw you completed the Marathon and wanted to congratulate you on finishing it. It doesn't matter what time you did it in. I just matters that you did it !

good idea
Same here Mickey ...taking a week (well, to be precise, 6 days) off....I don't feel guilty about it either because that's what the elite marathoners apparently do as well! That said, am looking forward to a light and easy jog on Sunday morning. Extra kudos to you for doing all your preparation and marathoning on top of having a little one. Well done.

Time off
So I am definitely taking off this entire week. Whenever I go down the stairs or bend to pick up the baby I get a sharp pinch at the top of my right knee. Not completely unfamiliar and rest usually does the job. I'll start back on Monday slow with 3 miles and see how it feels. I'm also pigging out this week. I'm trying not to but it's a losing battle. When I don't run I almost always lose it =\

Pointers??
That's too funny Aferraro! Jwhinc I am far from a pro, this was only my 3rd marathon, as a matter of fact my first & only race before running a marathon was a 5k which I ran 8 months before. My biggest tool has been the support and knowledge of a training program and running group. I am a member of the LA running club and I have also trained twice with the Los Angeles Roadrunners. Within those groups I have access to so many runners, runners who are willing to share their experiences and lend their support. Both groups also frequently have guest speakers to discuss everything from technique, diet, gear, even sports medicine doctors. Those things for me are extremely invaluable. I have also trained alone and found it to be much more difficult even though I already knew the routine. Don't know if that was the kind of pointer you were looking for but that's about all I got. Oh also Bodyglide, real running shoes and socks, no cotton, dry wick only, Sportsbeans, a good fuel belt, and because your a guy nip guards.

Congrats on your latest Marathon Completion
Once i rehab my ankle and im able to run again, (hopefully start running in 10-14 more days) I plan on getting ready for my first marathon ever. Any noobie recommendations or pointers? I know it will be a long process but, any advice is good advice.
