millernw's Journal
time in Chicago
Christa and I went to Chicago on Tuesday and Wednesday so my nutrition log is messed up. Hard to track everything while we were on the go. On a bright side, we did a LOT of walking. I figure it's more than the 3 miles/day I logged but I don't know for sure so I only put three miles. Also, I weighed myself on Monday and I lost 2.5 lbs. Exactly what Daily Burn said I would lose.

two problems with Daily Burn
I have found two problems with DailyBurn. 1.) The foods are very focused on restaurant and store bought food. I can see how this would be helpful for many, but I eat a lot of homemade food too. Normally when entering my meals I simply put the restaurant equivalent but it would be nice if it were easier to find "beef and noodles" that weren't from Bob Evans. 2.) Exercises are mostly limited to the gym. The past couple days have been nice and I skipped the gym to do yard work. I am convinced I had a better workout shoveling in my back yard and I would have in the gym but it's complicated to enter this information (that is, they don't have a pre-built exercise for this - I would have to build a custom exercise).

it's the in-between meals that get me.
I just realized it's the snacks I eat in between meals are what gets me. Mid-morning, and before bed are the worst. Late afternoon is a bit rough too. I think the key is to save enough calories to have a snack and then have healthy options when I go get hungry.

I'm pretty happy with DailyBurn.com
I set up my account a long time ago (more than a year back, I think they were even known by a different name then) but never really got into the website. This past week I checked it out again and wow! It's really improved. I really like how the site works, and I think it will help me track my progress. They even have an iPhone app that helps me track my workouts and nutrition. I plan to use DailyBurn for about 8 weeks and see what kind of progress I make.

starting
going to give this a try. Never been real good at keeping a schedule on exercise.. maybe this site will help. Wish they had a little better routine for yoga or stretching. I need something for my off days.
