MimiK's Journal
The struggle itself towards the heights...
Started running regularly again this week, and, for the first time EVER, have been able to begin running without music; finding it EASIER to do so without music, in fact. Did not ever think that would happen. It is much easier though, without music, to maintain a steady pace, and be fully mindful of what I'm trying to do. (This may or may not be a direct result of having started to read 'Zen and the Art of Archery' recently...)

Technology has failed me. FAILED ME.
After seeing those catchy TV ads for that 'micoach' iPhone app from adidas, I decided to try it out for the first time today. Essentially, it is designed to help with interval training, and, since I heard some crazy statistic about 1 hour of interval training being equivalent to 8 hours of normal running or something, I decided it'd be a good idea. Anyway, so as today was my first day, it asked me to do a 12 minute 'assessment workout', in which my pace has to steadily increase from walking up to '9/10' exertion. IT ALMOST KILLED ME. Then, feeling guilty for only having been running for 12 minutes, I decided to carry on (because it told me I could). However, little did I know that this rendered my assessment data invalid. So, tomorrow, I have to do it all again. (I'd say FML, if I were that sort of person, but really, it's probably a good idea, isn't it?).
