misssandy's Journal
Hello :)
Hi! Well thank you for accepting my invitation :) I'm originally from Sudbury Ont. I left Sudbury in 2000, moved to Ottawa for 6 years, moved to Vancouver in 2006 and moved back to Ottawa in summer of 2009 (boo) for financial reasons. We hope to go back to Vancouver !!! As far as my nutrition goes, some days I want to sit there and eat crappy... but I know that I will not get back into shape without having a clean diet! I've found some staple foods and usually don't sway too far from them. I totally understand your position about only having 1 salary. My bf just found out that the company that he works at got bought out from a company in Toronto, so he won't have a job as of mid-February... I really hope he'll find one quickly though!! I just applied for another job so I hope that this will work out. I work as a dispatcher for Safety at a University, so I work shift work, 2x12 hour days, then 2x12 hour overnights, then 4 days off. So I literally sit for 12 hours straight.... Not too good for the body !! I'm also taking epilepsy medication which makes me a zombie all the time, so I totally hear you about not having the motivation to do workouts, which is another reason that I am strict with my diet. I have a goal to lose about 50 lbs for right now. Current weight is 203, looking to go down to 150. I want to be able to have good health, endurance and strength. As far as interests go, I love tv and movies. I love going on long walks with my dog... but he (Havanese breed) doesn't like the winter either. So we reserve the long walks primarily for the spring/summer/fall, and I take him to an off-leash park for exercise in the winter (no salt so he can last longer since his paws aren't being burned by the chemicals...) Ottawa is so bad with putting lots of salt down on the sidewalks. So as for food. Since money is an issue, try and choose cheap foods to eat. As far as protein goes, dry beans are cheap and last for a long time, so there isn't any spoilage... pretty decent amount of protein too. Frozen veggies are just as healthy as fresh, but again, they don't spoil. Whole grain rice has more fiber and is more nutritious over white rice. I eat steel cut oats for breakfast nearly every day. It's cheap, lasts for a long time and high in fiber. Choose vegetables that are local and in season. I make a lot of stir fry's (minus the rice). Just a good load of veggies (that are high in fiber and low in calories) and some protein. Remember that vegetables have protein too. Also, if you can find a local farmer/fisherman to get your protein sources, sometimes they are cheaper than the supermarket is. I haven't taken a look at your nutritional logs, so I don't yet know what you eat. I'll check em out. If you need any help nutrition wise, let me know. I know this part pretty darned well. I just lack the motivation to get moving more.

lets try this fresh start thing again...
its been a hell of a couple of months. I'm not working and my husbands job keeps screwing him around on his pay. Last pay day they shorted him 3000 pesos. now since he makes 9000 a month taking 3000 fucked us. We covered rent and bought the absolute essentials for food. No meat, and limited everything else. And I've been rationing everything. Yesterday he went back to where he leaves for work (off shore rig, leaves from a different city, 2 weeks on 2 off) and got told that he won't be going back monday because the hospital messed up some paperwork and until that's sorted he can't go back, and of course while he's not at work he's spending money to get this hospital error fixed (needs clean bill of health) and not getting paid so it doesn't look like this month will be any easier. I'm out of work now because my visa expired and until we have an extra 4500 pesos to pay for that i can't even begin to look for a job unless i find one that is willing to hire me for cash only in an illigal way. so safe to say i'm stressed out, eating terribly and therefore have no energy to do anything. Last month I was doing good, eating well, exercising a lot, going to the gym but the gym was the first thing to go. and with a crappy diet i have zero energy. Gonna try doing 10 minute trainer starting monday and we'll see how that goes. No clue what to do about my diet. Hard to eat well when all you can afford is dry rice and oats.

Fresh Start
So about 3 weeks ago my husband and I moved to Veracruz, Veracruz Mexico. It's a much nicer city than Monterrey and people here actually exercise! I live about a block from the ocean and every morning and evening i see people running, walking or doing some sort of exercises, It's wonderful to see people taking care of themselves and it motivates me to get out and do my own stuff. The past couple weeks i haven't done much besides walk my dog since I was pretty busy unpacking and organizing the house but hopefully within a couple days i can start a regular routine with food and exercise!!!

1 week down!
Finished my first 6 days of P90X lean yesterday and I feel exhausted but in a good way. I didn´t do the stretch DVD however I did do my own stretching. The legs and back workout was by far the easiest for me. I think yoga X frustrates me because i use to dance and I know how flexible and strong I once was. I´m mad at myself for getting this far off track. I´ve been writing down my progress on the P90X log sheets and my goal is to increase by 2-4 reps each time for each exercise. I think once I finish the lean program i will make a hybrid of lean and classic to try. I don´t really want all the upper body training but i do want plyometrics, It looks intense but fun. Wish me luck!

p90x lean
I started the p90x lean last sunday. I´m way more out of shape than i thought. Right now I´m doing about half of each dvd but i don´t stop moving. I have a pair of 5lb weights that i´m starting with since i´ve never done weight training in my life. So far I´ve done core synergistics, Cardio X, arms and shoulders, ab ripper and yoga. The easiest for me was cardio and the hardest by far was yoga. Wé´ll see how i feel at the end of the first week.
