mj182's Journal
February
Totally sober as of Feb 2nd. Sobriety has been a very painful experience. Decided it's time to get help.

January
First two weekends water fast from Thurs night to Sun night. Sucked orange slices for dizziness and had avocado twice when stomach cramps got severe. Had small amount of coconut water, but wasn't enough cause I had bad problems with cramps week following fast. Didn't actually loose any weight. Struggling to give up wine but at least I haven't smoked in a month. Vacation in Idaho ate raw except for half a potato and onion soup. The soup fired off overeating and lots of eggs and cheese for a week after I got home. Surprisingly, didn't gain a single pound. I'm convinced it's because I haven't had anything sweet at all.

Migraine and Fasting
migraine started 12/26 did not eat anything illegal for christmas and weather is stable. for a few days before christmas skipped smoothies and didn't eat regular meals as I worked hard around the house. on christmas, ate a lot of agave when I haven't had any in about a month, and prob ate more salt than usual. noticed ovulating symptoms and thought it was early. got really bloated and up 3 pounds. next day migraine started. also having problems with hand strain and carpal tunnel. sweets cravings kicked in and I only had honey, which made it worse. on 4th day of migraine up another 4 pounds to 110! started water fast on day 5 and for the holiday weekend. Have to fast long enough to ditch the emotional eating and sweets cravings. After 3 days lost 5 pounds and feel amazing. I'm still 105 pounds but stomach and bloating and migraine are gone. I can water fast for about 72 hours before getting totally sick and forced to eat. Also much too difficult to fast while working. Ideal is Fri-Sun water fast, then Monday have smoothie for breakfast and salad for dinner.

8th month
December. trip to AU first of month ate mostly salads and fruit. cheated with fries and cheese, but must have ate enough greens cause I didn't get a migraine in the thunderstorms or returning to santa anas. did lots of walking and a few runs. Next trip must take blender and hemp powder (green powder alone is too nasty). Quit smoking as of 12/13 and don't really miss it. I feel like I am now past a transition phase. Eggs cause me problems now, I have no real appetite, I'm not eating sweets, I sleep only 4-5 hours and have tons of energy. I am so grateful to be raw, especially because the weather this month is the craziest ever - santa anas and pressure at 30.2 with hail and temps in the 40s. I am being mindful to eat greens with every meal and so far no migraines!

7th month not-quite-raw
November started with santa ana rains but no migraine! It's been a couple months since I've worked out and I'm really anxious to get back to it. I'm still eating cooked food a week after getting home from new orleans. The potatoes were a bad choice. Eating this way makes me nauseous and sleepy, and then migraine started. Super craving sweet and eating lots of nuts, up to 108 pounds. Water fasted for 3 days then all raw. For Thanksgiving ate raw sweet potato casserole, raw nut stuffing, lobster soup, salad. Feeling a lot better but still 106 pounds with mild migraines from santa ana rains. This couple months of experimenting was fun and an important learning process, but it's time to stop. This month went by so fast and could so easily turn into a 6 month binge. I want to be 100% raw and in control again.
