    ouch

Was doing my workout (turbojam) and tweaked my back a little so I stopped that, stretched and decided to do a little pilates to get a core workout and stretch in. Hopefully I didn't do anything to bad to my back!

About Me

Two years ago I moved to a city that promotes driving everywhere instead of biking and walking like where I used to live to attend graduate school. I have been busy working on my Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, and in the process of sitting on my bottom all day during classes, eating while studying, and driving everywhere I have reached an all time high weight- almost 20lbs over what I consider a healthy weight for me. I have arthritis and an autoimmune condition that cause me to get tired and sick easily, so to lose weight I am going to do it in a healthy consistent way while listening to what my body needs, in order to prevent a flare up. I just finished the classroom part of my education, and next week I start my clinical rotations. Since I will be helping other people in rehabilitation settings in the hospitals, I feel it is very important to practice what I preach, and take care of my own body. Although I am starting this during the New Year Resolution Craze, I have been planning and preparing for this for the past few months, changing my diet slowly and identifying tools such as DB to use to promote success. My goals are - Long Term Goal: • Decrease pain from arthritis by lowering my overall body fat and increasing lean muscle. • I will run 3 miles in under 30 minutes without walking. Short Term Goals: • I will lose 6lbs by February 14th. • I will exercise five days a week for at least 30 minutes every session, during every week between now and February 14th. • I will decrease added sugars in my diet, during this stage, I will not bake cookies, drive out of my way to get ice-cream, or munch mindlessly, holding myself accountable by recording everything I eat on DB. If I succeed in these goals- I will allow myself to purchase either a cute dress or swimsuit to help further motivate me. In February, I will reassess my goals.
