    Great to hear from you!

Oh passionfruit, how good to hear from you again :-) Congratulations on your marriage - I wish you all the best and many happy years together - that's wonderful news! I haven't been exactly vocal either, so don't worry on that score. Actually, I haven't been very assiduous on the DB front, I've been (mostly) tracking my workouts, but I was sliding on logging on my food. Worse, I tend to be an emotional eater, and when I'm under stress (of whatever kind, as I have been over the past while), I hit the chocolate croissants - it was pretty much a daily occurrence for a while :-( BUT, I've just come back from a week in Portugal where I participated in a sports and nutrition week, it cleared my head and I'm now back on track. I've been experimenting with some new recipes - mediterranean lentil salad and a garbanzo/quinoa salad - if you're interested, I can send you the recipes (same email? Mine hasn't changed). I'm currently reading 'The Children's Book' by A.S. Byatt - a very strange (but good!) story - if you ever come across 'Possession' (another of her books which won the Man Booker Prize a few years ago), it's truly amazing! Hope to hear from you again soon-ish - and let me know about your email. :-) Liz

    Hi!

Omigod passionfruit, It's so good to hear from you, I had been wondering how you were doing! I actually started writing a mail to you ages ago, I guess I should get around to finishing it. I've had a very eventful six months - not least because I found a new job with a company I worked for as a consultant last year, and who just happen to be located 25 mins on foot from where I live. This means no more commuting (oh joy) and lots of time for me - and the gym, and my books.....:-) I am indeed still working out every other day, and my weight is steady.....I'm less uptight about the whole issue these days - I don't weigh myself every day anymore for instance - but my clothes still fit, and I get lots of compliments :-) Bring it on, I say. As for you, I know you do the best you can in the time you have. Medicine is heavy-duty stuff though, and you can't do everything at once, you have to set your priorities. You're studying to acquire skills that will help people, throw everything you have at it, and don't feel guilty about doing so! Your log doesn't paint THAT dramatic a picture, so you're doing something right - just keep it up. More anon. Liz

Thank you so much! Your positive words mean a lot to me. I am not a "natural" when it comes to the camera, so I am glad to here that it doesn't show. Next post should be this Friday. :)

About Me

I'm a medical student happy to find the time to get outdoors and keep my health up. Working on getting enough sleep so I am alert, happy, and don't eat junk. 1998-2006: Undiagnosed metabolic condition. Went from a thin childhood to an almost-overweight (142lbs) 8 years. Starved a few times down to 130lbs. 2006: Diagnosed, started medication. Without dieting moved down to 130lbs, felt satisfied with my body and appreciative of my health. Glad to stay at a constant weight and clothes-size 6, and eat and exercise moderately-- little stress around it. Also, no thought that one day I could slim down even more, and look more like the athlete I knew I was! 2009: Started Gyminee at 132lbs, April, wish I'd taken a photo! Got down to 122 and size 2 for a few months during summer, through meticulous tracking, enjoyably hard exercise, and eating "clean". It took a few months to feel "me" in this new body-- afterall, I'd honestly slightly resented thin people for so many years. This fall I'm inching up in the 125's and wearing a 4. Still very satisfied with my look and feel, but keeping the goal of 120 out there, as well as not having to track every day and just feeling natural in my body: Lean and Mean and Stable (and nice).
