Lack of crossfit exercises on Gyminee
4 May 2009. Crap. I did several exercises that are in the crossfit website/books but they are not listed in Gyminee. There seems to be a distinct lack of these exercises on this site. Try looking up burpees and the closest they have are "body builders." In the Army, they called them something else, but definitely NOT body builders. Sheesh!

Moving
Monday, 27 April. After moving the house to a new place, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I decided to go back to the gym. I was kinda missing it. I didn't do my burpees like I was supposed to, but I started back today at 14. Today I performed the Crossfit workout, "Michael," in honor of a fallen soldier. 3 RFT - 800m run, 50 back ext, 50 sit-ups. I was beat and sadly it took me about 36 min. When I do this again, in about 2-3 months I hope to better that time considerably.

So it begins...
Monday, 20 April 2009. Went to a wedding on Saturday. Taught the wife to drive on Sunday. I didn't do much more that a few burpees on those days. Today however, it begins. I start on the long road to 180lbs. I did what Crossfitters call, "Angie". I scaled it down to 35 reps each. If I was more along in my workouts I'd do up to 100 reps each of pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, and squats. But, let's remember, if I kill myself the first day, it'll suck. I did reach the point where I was breathing heavy and I could feel the burn even after I went home. I think I did it just right. Great! So let's see the next challenge tomorrow.

Gerbil in a ball
Friday, 17 April 2009. Remember that hamster/gerbil in the ball from the movie "Bolt?" I kinda feel like him. I'm about to plunge in my workouts starting next week. I've ramped up my Crossfit warmup to the maximum of 15 reps. That may not seem like much, but doing 3 sets of 15 pullups is not easy...for now. I did my 20 min run and I added 3 sprints to the mix. Not bad. Yesterday I took the bike for a ride along the river. I went for about an hour and a half, I guess about 20km. So here I am peering over the abyss/at the bottom of the mountain, at the beginning of a trek (choose your analogy) and I'm dreading and excited to get started. "Let it begin! Let it begin!"

Oiled Joints
Wednesday, 15 April 2009. Tax day. I leave my political rantings out of this journal for now and save my thoughts about the government for another journal. I did the crossfit warm-up and ran for 20min. I'm not recording them as official workouts because this is just so I can prep my body for the real workouts that will come next week, that way when the calories are recorded on this site, I'll know for sure that I burned at least that much instead of guessing or wondering. I get off of swings shift this week so I won't work out in the mornings for now. I'll just hit the gym after work. I wonder if I could squeeze in a early morning run before I go to work. We'll see, but I wouldn't bet on it.
