Monday, 21 May - SpinItOff Weigh-In : 223.4
So I lost a total of (230 - 223) - 7libs in the 8 weeks. This is because of swimming & bike riding & its summer. My hope is to be under 200 libs for my birthday. I think I can do it - I have 2 months to lose the 20lbs. I'll be 1/3rd of the way to my final goal. I truly think that the summer is the best time to for me to lose weight - my body isn't fighting me as much... Just have to be diligent about exercising. I'm starting a program of 3-3-3 - swimming 3 times, spinning 3 times and strength training 3 times. I'm starting it this week - so we will see how it goes.

Sunday, 6 May_weigh-in: 225.8_MOVE! Weign-in: 227
While I'm glad that my weight is coming down, it's doing so very slowly.. that it's sort of discouraging. Went for a 30 mile ride on the WMRT today. I wish I had not been rushed (I had to finish by 3 so I could make it to the gym to take a shower before it closed). My butt started to hurt on my way back (mile 27-ish). I need to build up my endurance for the boys & girls club ride on the 2nd of June. I had planned to do the 70 miler but may only be able to do the 50 miler... ::::sigh;:: that's ok.. I think... I'm tired ... really wish I could take a nap but Ronette and I are going to Martinsburg to see Safe. hmmm... i guess i should get something done while i'm waiting...

Monday, 16 April
Spin-off weigh-in: 231 but its with a different scale and Susie didn't deduct for clothes. I swam for a whole hour! Until I am able to swim correctly - I'm only going for time spent attempting to swim. I don't know if my arms were correct - I might have been going too deep.. but it feels awkward trying to "scoop shallow". I'm good at breathing when I do the kick board - sort of. I can feel when my head is in the wrong position for breathing.. but I don't feel like I get sufficient air.. I can't get a deep breath like I can when I breathe through my nose. I think I'm going to buy a swimming cap - just too keep my hair out of my face and to make it easier to place my goggles. I don't think they'll do anything for my hair ::shrug::: I want to buy the mp3 player but I need to see if it will fit in my budget. I hope that my practicing this week makes an impression on Brandon. I want him to know that I'm serious about learning to swim so he'll teach me more advance things. :::shrug::: we'll see.

Saturday, 14 April
After spin, I went to the pool and practiced my swimming technique. It was pretty kewl - having a structured regimen. Plan on swimming anytime i'm in the gym. Decided that I have to be on the trails - when going for a bike ride - no later than noon in order to have time to come back and swim. Feels good to almost be able to swim the right way. Modified the drills but will tweak them a bit tomorrow. The plan is to swim for 45 minutes in the lap pool then spend 15 minutes in the therapeutic pool & 10 additional minutes in the sauna. I think this will really help my body not ache as much. In the lap pool what I plan to do is use the buoy-thingie and do 15 minutes of practicing arm strokes and breathing, then 15 minutes w/kick-board practicing kicking and breathing - then the last 15 minutes practicing it all together; using my fins of course. I was able to do better with the first two and struggled a lot with the last one. But I certainly give myself a break since this is my first week of swim lessons and the fact that I can do any simulation of breathing and swimming is a marked improvement from prior to the lessons. End Goals: 1. Lose about 10 - 15lbs in these remaining 9 weeks to fit the new bathing suit I bought early in the year and 2. Be able to swim 1 mile - which is about 70 laps. Hmmmm.... so.. I COULD increase by 7 laps each week..but that may be too much. AND I need some way to count.. I was thinking of some type of abacus type device. I think I'll start slow and increase by 2 each week...then that'll be 8 each month... that's better. So - starting tomorrow [looks like rain so probably won't go for a ride] - I'll do 7 laps and try to do that in 15 minutes. :0) It's kewl to have a goal. By the end of the year I should be swimming a mile... we will see... interested to see if I lose weight or tone up faster or differently...

Tuesday, 10 April - Started Swim Lessons today!
I've not been faithful about keeping up-to-date with my journaling... Started Spin it off weight-management last monday and weighed in @ 230. This monday I was down a pound - 229. Started swim lessons with Brandon at the Wellness Center - it was fun and slightly challenging. This week I plan to go in tomorrow (Wednesday), Thursday & possibly on Saturday. I need to practice breathing, my strokes and kicking ::Sigh::: I'm a bit concerned because at any moment I could be let go by Bamboo and then all this time for myself will be gone :0( Makes me depressed...
