About Me
Im an Executive Fellow in the California State Capitol. Hard work, a committment to my state, and passion for staying active motivate me through my day! I'm always an excited person with a good attitute who wants to expereince everything I can. Being a student government president, Housing department director, and graduting my undergrad in three years did not help my physical condition. Now that I am a little more settled, I want to get my body image and overall health to a very good place!

Work and Food
Work has started to get really busy and Im finding less time to prep my meals the night before, to make sure I can still eat very healthy. I have been able to right off a few poor diet calls by playing on a coed basketball team twice a week. The games are a fantastic workout in addition to my regular Wellness Program ones. I can however feel the strain on my body and will be happy when I get back to a little more normalcy and control. Fr example, between basketball and having a lot of arm required exercises at Wellness, the tendons in my hand feel a bit weak and even hurt if I try and pick something up in a weird way.

Saturday is Cheat Day!
I think the best way to keep myself sane (and able to enjoy this time in my life with friends and working hard) is to have a Saturday Cheat Day! basically, eat anything and everything I want! With a Sun-Friday good and healthy diet, it makes everything taste even more delicious and well-deserved. This week went really well and I still love all the high protein that I have been eating without the carbs. I did a healthy cooking class with some friends and made some yummy salmon salad and Moroccan chicken. One thing it more opened my eyes to was the use of spices that I have been a bit nervous to try over my life. I stick to a lot of the basics and really enjoy the benefit that that Mrs. Dash stuff really brings. I have almost all of them and they help me to keep prep time down to a minimum. Can't wait for another weak of healthy eating, hard exercise, and mentally challenging work!

Starting anew!
I am one week, not into my diet, but into my new way of eating! I love it. I started by clearing out all of the unnecessary carbs in my apartment, basically anything that wasn’t purely whole wheat grains. I bought a ton (literally it looked like) of chicken, beef, etc. from Costco and am keeping fresh (more non starchy ones than not) vegetables on hand in the kitchen. I try to cook all my meals the night before so I can workout early in the morning. Very high in protein, I feel energized but tired and ready for sleep at the appropriate time. My workout have been challenging but also very fun! Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are the Morning Warriors at the Well starting at 6:15. I don't make every morning, but try to go as often as I can. We do a bootcamp style workout the combines weights, cardio, agility, yogi, and some other great things depending on the day. Additionally, on off days I use the weight gym here at the Department to work on strength training! Having the National Guard guys around me is always motivating!
