sirwebbie's Journal
don't worry, I've been working
I've been working so hard that I have not had any time at the computer until now (during the last month) but I have been swimming 1-1.5 miles a day and staying fit. Plan on getting back to the 100 pushups challenge.

Calorie intake question
Thanks for the questions man i'll do my best to answer them. With regards to daily calorie intake, when i am trying to increase my muscle mass i shoot for maybe 3500 a day and a lot of this will come from the numerous smaller snacks i eat between meals. Snacks such as Natural peanut butter + Banana contain 300+ calories alone, Goji berries mixed with almonds in a handful are also around 300 calories, and raw veggies dipped in hommus are another great healthy snack and a great way to eat more veggies. Add to this maybe a protein shake before bed, and 4-5 meals throughout the day and that target is quite easy to hit or even surge over. I also tend to make a lot of meals with chickpeas and lentils which are both very high in calories and protein. A 500g bowl with lentils/chickpeas/tempeh/olive oil has around 900 calories! Since you do a lot of swimming i would definitely suggest you cut back on cardio as it's only going to eat into your daily calorie target and detract from your goal of putting on weight. You already look very lean and defined so focus your efforts on compound exercises (bench, squats, deads, pullups) with heavier weights to build rapid muscle ass and take full advantage of the high calorie diet. Oh and on a vegan diet none of the required food areas are cut out, unless of course you are looking at the Western food pyramid which is completely biased to a diet high in animal products and also brings with it a myriad of debilitating health problems. Your swimming time goals have got me curious now as well, as i haven't clocked myself in a long time, but used to 50m freestyle in around 27s in school so would be fun to see current times! Take it easy!

Thanks for reply. Yes, I wish I could do workout while I am on my business trip. My day was starting at 7.00 am and by the time I came back to hotel it is already 10.00 pm. So was very very tiring and then go for dinner, But I guess I will make it up this week.

Swimming improvements
I've already saw some improvements! I tried your idea of pushing myself off the wall, and it works. I feel I go faster with less energy needed. Great! Thank you so much, I'm sure I can really improve my time on working that aspect.
