    DAY 1. 8/3/09

So here we are again.. same song and dance. I'm going to lose weight. I'm going to stop eating fried foods, bad carbs, high sugars.. no more pop.. no more candy.. I'm going to work out every day.. I'm committed this time. So what did I say there that I haven't said 100 times already? Unfortunately nothing.. It's easy to say that I'm ready to make a change.. I'm ready to do things differently.. I'm ready to get to a place where I'm happy with myself. But actually doing it is really fucking difficult.. But one thing is for sure.. This time I'm ready to FIGHT FOR IT. I know it isn't going to be easy. I know I'm going to need help.. but this time I know I'm ready to put the effort in, and this time I know enough to ask for help. There is no turning back. Right now I'm almost the heaviest and doughy-ist I've ever been. I'm usually tired, generally depressed, mostly in a state of discomfort. I'm not looking to lose weight. I'm looking to be healthy. From today on, I'm "Eating Clean", I'm exercising, and most importantly I'm done making excuses. Take this journey with me.. let's help each other along the way.

    unorthodox training.

So I've been lifting off and on for the past 5 years.. nothing crazy, just trying to keep some muscle and not get too fat. Lately I've been getting pretty interested in MMA.. Not necessarily going and fighting, but I'm fascinated by the workout routines these guys do. I have been doing a lot of research and trying new things, and I'm starting to get some great results from things I never considered. I'm not really sure what the point of this is, but I just finished up a pretty intense workout with just a barbell, medicine ball, and two whiffle ball bats filled with sand... and I feel more accomplished than I have in months. I think lifting in circuits, getting away from the olympic lifts and using these unorthodox methods for exercise have renewed my passion, and have given me a lot more will to work out... I'm just excited I'm having fun lifting again.
