    Tennis Elbow

My left elbow has been hurting a bit recently. I thought it was from yoga. I had Donna watch my Chadurhanga and she confirmed I could do a better job with my alignment. I need to push forward with my toes before I begin to lower to the mat, to ensure my elbows and wrists are aligned vertically. She showed me how to strap my elbows so that I can just come halfway down and let the strap support my torso. Then I can hold it there or push back up to build strength.

    Losing Weight!

At the end of June 2010 I was 155 lbs and 25% body fat - two numbers I had never seen before! My clothes fit poorly and I was depressed. I started the Zone Diet that week. It's now the end of July and I've lost about 5 lbs and about 2% body fat. I'd like to get back to 145 and 22% if possible. Hope the doctor will have good news about my herniated disc next week!

    Strength Again

This time I'm trying CrossFit. My goal is to work out twice a week for the time being, perhaps eventually working up to three times a week. I was taking a Reformer class once a week, but I sort of plateaued, and it was expensive and far-away, anyway. (Not that CrossFit isn't expensive, but it's close by, and I don't see myself plateauing anytime soon.)

    Sore!

I walked for the second time last night since surgery two weeks ago. Only 30 minutes at 3.5 mph, and I am sore! I hope I haven't ruined my ability to run! I guess I will find out today or tomorrow.

    Strength

So... my fitness goals are all over the place, but one thing I consistently have trouble with is building muscle, specifically in my upper body. So I'm going to try the 100 Pushups program and see how it goes. This should take only a few minutes, three times a week. I'm also training for a few sprint-distance triathlons, the first of which is in mid-July. I had gotten up to running about 25 minutes before I had a bone biopsy out of my hip on May 14th. I've been walking a bit and am looking forward to starting running again soon! My bike needs the cobwebs dusted off of it, and I should swim a couple of times before my first race (I have an old shoulder injury from having been a competitive swimmer growing up, so I have the technique to still go fast compared to the rest of the field on minimal workouts). I'm also a lover of Pilates and yoga. I try to do yoga once a week to manage stress, and Pilates three times a week. Recently, due to my work schedule, I've only been able to fit in one Pilates workout a week (usually because I'm teaching the class - I NEED to do more at home!).
