    Great Manchester Run 2010

Did the GMR 2010 in 56'10 with a nice strong finish. Very happy with my progress, and now I have something to aim for next year!

    Stuff

Interesting past week - put my name into the ballot for the London Marathon (if I dont get in I'll do Chester instead). Also managed a 55min 49 10km. I tried the rope trainer at the gym, which was interesting. Looks like a good way to get some cardio whilst saving my legs for outdoor biking and running. Finally, the race pack arrived for the Manchester 10km next week, so I'm into my last week preps. Hoping to get in in 55mins.

    Progress

Brief update: Down to 56:41 for a 10km, with Emily. Did 20 miles on the bike yesterday in 1:37:29, which is under 5hr pace for 60 miles. Down to 90.2kg this morning, looks like I've finally got the diet back on track. Finally, back in the gym tonight, got my new phone setup with the workouts so now there's no excuse.

    Belated upate

Oops, so I've not updated this in a little while, although I've got a few things to mention! I entered my first half marathon in March, so I've mainly been training for that the past few months. We finished it in 2hrs 10, which was exactly what we planned. Yay for being a nerd when it comes to training plans! Next up is the Great Manchester Run, in May. Both runs since the half marathon have been pretty quick (Emilys fastest ever, 2 of my fastest 3), so we're aiming to do it in about 55 mins. We've already done 58mins 26, so we're optimistic. Then I've got the Blackpool ride again. Going to be doing it by myself this year, so it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

    Dropped a jean size (kinda)

A few months ago I accidentally bought a pair of jeans a size too small, and decided to keep them for motivation. I literally couldn't get the fly done up, and struggled to get them up over my ass. Now they fit. They're slightly snug, so I won't be wearing them out anywhere just yet, but a nice feeling all the same.

About Me

Got into running a few years ago when I couldn't do a quarter of a mile, I've since done 2 10kms and a half marathon. I've also done the 60 mile Manchester - Blackpool bike ride a couple of times, and I'm now looking to work on my times for all those! Feel free to give me a shout if you're looking for a motivator or just some advice in starting running.
