Steph80's Journal
Poke!
Hey there...I'm planning on running the Celebration 5k again this year...hope to see you there! :D

We now return to our regularly scheduled program..
I'm back! My last journal entry was filled with frustration and angst...and I gave up. THEN I finally went to the dr. and discovered I have hypothyroidism along with a host of other issues including pre-diabetic pancreas issues, vitamin deficiencies, and ovarian cysts. All of which (especially the thyroid issue) explains why I would work so hard and see such little progress or why the work I did would so easily slip away if I "took a break." I have a lot of work to do, but I finally feel properly informed and sufficiently supported. I've been training for a 1/2 marathon for 7 weeks now and I'm down 10 pounds. I run 3-4 x/week, have a yoga class 3x/week and sometimes throw in 30 minutes of extra yoga in the morning. My diet is now in lines with the Mediterranean Diet...which is like the LifeForce Plan with whole grains and a glass of wine. I'm still avoiding processed foods, sweets and high (unhealthy) fats. My weight loss is slow, but steady. I won't be logging my food here on Daily Burn, but I will be tracking my weight and exercise...just to keep me accountable. So, here we go again...

What?!?
I don't understand this at all. I am up 4 pounds this week!?! My "official" weigh-in isn't until Monday, but I like to check on my progress during the week. It keeps my head in the game and me on track. And as of this morning, I am 4 pounds heavier than Monday. I have worked out 1.5 hours with a combination of cardio, strength training and core work. I have eaten well within healthy calorie ranges. I haven't deprived myself to the point my body thinks it's starving. I have drank a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day and taken my vitamins. If that isn't enough to lose weight than I honestly don't know what is. I feel like I've been punched in the stomach. And my spirits are definitely deflated.

That's More Like It
Well, alright! 6 days of moderate-intense workouts + balanced, smart diet = 6 pounds lost. I'm definitely motivated by those kind of results. Here's what worked for me this week: 1) group classes - my new favorite workout is pilates and 2) lifeforce-ISH diet - about 90-95% lifeforce, with reasonable add-ons as needed. I had a couple of drinks Thursday night (but stayed w/in calories), I've had some pita chips or multi-grain bread, and yesterday I had dessert (for father's day). This week would be a perfect example, actually, of how to eat properly - healthy and balanced, but not so strict that I couldn't maintain it for long. Strangely enough, too, yesterday I went over my calorie range by 400ish and yet I still dropped a lot of weight. I can't complain that I don't know what to do. I DO know what to do...now I just have to do it. This week showed that if I put my mind to it, I can lose this weight, increase my strength and reach my fitness goals. 2 weeks until the Celebration 5k, 4 weeks until Chicago, 5 weeks until Sirens and 9 weeks until Tour de Pain.
