    Even if it has only included some crunch and push-ups on two of the days, it is a big step up from the 0 for 7 of only two weeks ago.

    minor gain in stamina

    After nearly six months off from any real exercise, I am hopeful the minor bump in stamina I am getting from the last two weeks of bike riding will continue to motivate me. Today saw me shave five minutes off last weeks bike-commute.

    I was surprised with my time this morning... when I looked at the time it said 42 minutes for 2.5k, I hope I counted the laps correctly because that is my fastest time ever. I felt good in the water, really gliding and pushing strongly, so I might just be getting a better swimmer after all. Thanks! Keep the good work!

About Me

While I have always enjoyed physical activity I was never more than an average athlete, perhaps it was the childhood asthma, maybe it was poor coaching, or perhaps I was just lazy. After completing college I became more structured in my exercise, and ever since I have gone through two year cycles where I go to the gym 3+ days a week, followed by a similar period where I just can not find the time. Usually it is career change or a continental move that causes this. With the arrival of twin daughters in 2007, and after attaining my greatest weight ever I made the decision that if I did not do something about my physical condition immediately I might not be able to keep up with them by the time they reached their second birthday. A very sobering and depressing thought. The usual aches and pains ensued, but instead of being hooked on exercise after three weeks it took a full eight weeks. Exercise while not a passion, is once again a required source of enjoyment and balance in my life. The discovery of DailyBurn has tapped into my competitive nature and helped me visualize my progress as well as motivate me. Currently my focus is building cycling stamina and weight loss.
