    Scraped some barnacles off

I put in some time at the pool this morning. First time in 26 days. I am off pace by about 500 meters/hour. It should come back up by the end of the week.

    Back in Business

The Gyminee folks fixed my logging error so I'm back in business. Forget about the lost month, it's over. Just dive back into the English Channel and don't look back. You will see that you still remember the strokes. I enjoyed a nasty 4000 yard workout this morning. I sure was glad to get that behind me.

    Stymied

This cycle of travel, colds and late night project hours is seriously cutting into my primary job of getting into shape! :) Should be home for a while, got a brief ride in this morning but not the workout I wanted. I can not belief I have been out of the water for nearly a month. :(

    Swimming The English Channel

I hope I can get the English Channel problem fixed. You, me and Iron Dave had a pretty good competition going there for a while. You should be able to count on me for 10,000 to 12,000 yards of swimming motivation each week.

    I know, I know

Door's not frozen shut...yet. :) Daughter's been sick this week, so didn't want to leave the wife to care for her herself, but I am planning on a run today and getting back into the gym tomorrow morning. Thanks for keeping me honest! (Told you there was a reason you didn't 'get the axe.')

About Me

While I have always enjoyed physical activity I was never more than an average athlete, perhaps it was the childhood asthma, maybe it was poor coaching, or perhaps I was just lazy. After completing college I became more structured in my exercise, and ever since I have gone through two year cycles where I go to the gym 3+ days a week, followed by a similar period where I just can not find the time. Usually it is career change or a continental move that causes this. With the arrival of twin daughters in 2007, and after attaining my greatest weight ever I made the decision that if I did not do something about my physical condition immediately I might not be able to keep up with them by the time they reached their second birthday. A very sobering and depressing thought. The usual aches and pains ensued, but instead of being hooked on exercise after three weeks it took a full eight weeks. Exercise while not a passion, is once again a required source of enjoyment and balance in my life. The discovery of DailyBurn has tapped into my competitive nature and helped me visualize my progress as well as motivate me. Currently my focus is building cycling stamina and weight loss.
