Four Hour Body: It works. I lost 42lbs in 4 months
So, in August, I stumbled upon Tim Ferriss's post on his blog: "How to lose 20 lbs in 30 days." Had it not been for his insights in the 4-Hour Workweek, I would have disregarded it--but I knew Tim to be a smart cookie, so I read on. I was 202 lbs. I was depressed about it, and hadn't worked out in 18 months. After reading about his diet, it seemed so simple that I gave it a shot. I lost over a pound a day immediately. The idea of going back to 5-6 days a week in the gym for 2 hours a day was daunting; but that's what I knew to be effective based on years of weight training. Then I read his blog post about his 30-minute workout that you only do 2x a week. I lifted for years, following Schwartzenegger's "Modern Bodybuilding Encyclopedia" (which I highly recommend, fascinating book!). There were no short cuts in there--just straight-ahead hard work. Again, had it not been for the 4HWW, and then the success I was seeing after 2 weeks on the diet, I'd have disregarded such foolish talk. But, I gave it a shot. The end results were amazing. I lost 42 lbs in 4 months. I went from a 36 pant to a 29. The body changes from lifting look/feel more like what I was getting from 10-15 hours in the gym a week--all from ONE hour per week. It's like cheating! When the book came out, I knew it would have even more goodness. I've bought 10 copies. I give them out as gifts. :) What better thing to give someone than health? Thanks, Tim!
