Tamo's Journal
Title...
On a quick better note, I rescued a dog that was abandoned. Her and I have been going on evening walks now every evening for at least an hour! She has brought a new light to my life and I think I'm going to keep her! She is keeping me on my toes thats for sure!!

Still gaining...
I bought a pair of jean less than 2 weeks ago and they don't fit!! I made an appointment w/ my doctor. Something is up! I'm watching my food intake, working out on a reg bases (even though I forget to post it), and my body is going the opposite direction. I paid to have a personal trainer watch me tomorrow during my morning workout. I've been phy activity for over 10 years now (USMC) I know how to take care of myself and workout... but maybe a fresh pair of eyes would be good for me! Wish me luck and now I'm not "expecting" LOL!!

Thank you
thank you both for your emails! I appreciate them very much. Honestly I sat down and wrote what i ate for a daily basis and was surprised at the discovery. I eat a lot of take out. I don't have a lot of time to prep meals or cook in general. I end up going threw the drive threw and picking out chicken products. It's still not good though....

Hi Tamo,
I just saw your message on the women's group too. Don't give up!!! The fact that you're here and reached out with that message shows that you want to make changes. Like you said, you just need to find back your motivation and discipline. It might be good to sit down and really brainstorm about what you want and what is important to you. It sounds like the emotional eating is really getting to you. What else? Your looks? Your health? How would life be different for you if you had your old body back? Research shows that we're better able to stick to our goals if our goals have a lot of emotional meaning attached to them. So it seems that emotional effort would be good to keep in mind. How does it make you feel when you lose control? How would you feel if you had that control back again? How would it positively influence other areas of your life? And your upcoming wedding, that's *huge*! Talk about a goal with emotional attachment. You probably want to look your best and feel beautiful. You'll just have to figure out how to get the ball rolling in the right direction. Think about our bad food choices too. What can you do when you're bored, hungry or upset instead of eating the wrong foods? When I quit smoking I bought those simple flash cards and wrote all kinds of things down that I could do instead of lighting up a cigarette. Go for a walk, take a bath, grab a good book, etc. I tossed all the cards in a container and when I really wanted to smoke I would chose a random card and go do it. It helped! I had good motivation too. My sister was pregnant, and I didn't want there to be any pictures of me smoking anymore when my niece was born. That was a good emotional attachment. Let me know if I can help you!

Hi ~
I just saw your message on one of the women's group board. I can totally emphasize with you because I just got married myself this past summer and my husband and I are currently looking to purchase a new home in a new city. Our big move is planned for January. How much time do you have to 'shape-up' before the big day? If you have several months then I would suggest you literally sit down with a wall calender and plan out a realistic exercise plan that you can follow consistently. Consistency is the key. Factor in the time you have (outside your work), ability, and enthusiasm you have for the work out. I would also throw in some exercise activities that you hate or are super challenging, but are good for you. I hate squats with a passion, but I made a mini-goal within my regular exercise routine to complete a few sets of squats. If I did my squats consistently for a week I would reward myself with a small indulgence (not food- manicure, new c.d etc). You mentioned that your work is rather sedentary, so try to find some "activities" that you can do at your desk or on your way to work. I also sit at a desk for part of the day and I use to do 10 squats every hour by just standing up beside my chair and counting out squats. (In private of course :-) Walk to work, or climb stairs in your office. Little things do add up. Best of luck and if you need any motivation just let me know! Meghan
