    You can do it!!!!!!!!!

Come on! This is your year! All you need is some of the heckling I was subject to and you'll be signed up for 70.3 in no time! What better time than now? Besides, we can all suffer together... :)

    Thanks!

Thank you for your comment! I think that a 70.3 is probably a better distance. I wanted to go for a full IronMan, but it's too long to actually race it. It is more (at least with my fitness level) a matter of being able to go through it, no matter what. I would think that on a 70.3, the distances are long enough to be hard but short enough to let you really push it. Anyways, hope you can make it to an IronMan 70.3 this year and that your training is going well!

    Dear Dork

Yes, I am signed up for the city of oaks 1/2 marathon. There are a couple people at work that are also doing it. We have a training plan we are going to try to stick too...so I think my little bit of cycling and swimming may take a hit (at least initially). I can run about 6 at my turtle pace and feel good. I am not aiming for speed...just to finish without walking... mediocrity is my motto. Once I get to that distance, I am going to try to maintain it there and work on cycling and swimming. Considering a sprint tri in October, but not sure yet....think I may wimp out... I just wish I had more days of the week to exercise... seems like I can only improve in 1 area at a time and the others decline.

    Nutrition and recovery

Hi Chad, thanks for your nice comments and for the invite! Nutrion and recovery has been one of the challenges. When I started losing weight I got used to eating less and was very careful about carbs and fat. When I started intensifying my workouts my energy levels were getting low too and I kept losing weight. So I started to eat more, up to a point where I felt uncomfortable eating so much, but I kept adding food until I could see that I wouldn't lose weight every day (could lose up to 2 pounds per day). So I'm now eating between 4000 and 6000 calories a day depending how much I've worked out. I'm not as careful about what I eat; I can't if I want to get to that amount of calories. So I just eat pretty much everything I can find until I'm not hungry anymore (I'm still being careful while grocery shopping, so I don't buy crappy food). As for recovery, there have been days when I felt really tired and probably the same kind of fatigue you mention. What I've found to work fine for me, is to go easier those days. I usually start my day with a run. If I feel tired, I'll run much slower than usual, up to a point where I feel almost no efforts. Usually by the end of the run, I feel much better and I can even add some speed. The other thing is that I very often go to bed very early (can be as early as 7PM, but it's usually around 9PM). That has taken a toll to my social life, since I can't really be out with friends after 9PM, otherwise I'll fall asleep... Training has been taking most of my time (besides work). So evenings are usually very short for me, my wife usually watches TV and I fall asleep next to her (we don't have kids). Then in the morning, she'll be sleeping when I wake up for my morning run. I'll try to keep that amount of training up until my IronMan in August (with some tapering of course before the race). Then I'll see how I adapt after that, I'll probably slow down a little and reintroduce other activities in my day to day life. Good luck with your training, keep up the good work!

    :) Thanks!

Thank you for the advice! I haven't boken out the rolling pin yet (do people still use those for thier original purpose?), but I think I might have to to keep up with you! Great job! You are doing great!
