You're doing a great job making progress! Gaining healthy weight can be as difficult (if not more so) as losing weight, but you're going for it! Keep it up and I look forward to seeing even more achievements from you in DailyBurn!

    RE: Reflection

I enjoyed reading your reflections (and free forum post, as well). It sounds like you used this opportunity as the starting point to a lot of new changes... from new classes to different food choices. It's great to hear how much more mindful you are about your healthy choices and how 'in the moment' you have grown to become. Keep up the great work and avoid anything that will get in the way of this great momentum! Enjoy the rest of your spring! :)

    Reflection

I loved using Daily Burn this semester! I think sites like this have many pros to them. For example, recording nutrition with Daily Burn is much easier than doing it by yourself because hundreds of different products and their nutrition values are already there for you to choose from. It is also motivating to be able to create goals and visually see the progress you're making on each one. Websites like Daily Burn are a great place for people across the country to learn from one another through forum question, user workouts, and new exercises. I think the main con about sites like this is that they don't provide a good place to meet people the way exercise classes or gyms do. Also, in order to develop, on your own, a strong group of motivators and productive workouts, the user is required to spend a lot of time on the computer. Without extra motivation from friends or a class, too much computer time can lead to time-wasting and bad habits that are counter-productive to health. I was able to meet many of my SMART goals, but some of them I'll need to redesign. I was able to meet my "not eating out" goal. This helped me get into the habit of preparing meals at night if I had to work early in the morning and save some money! I was not able to meet my goal of not drinking sweetened drinks at work. I think this was because I started telling myself "one drink won't hurt" or "it's free so why not?" Maybe I could find a friend at work who would want to achieve this goal with me so that we could provide each other with motivation. I think this goal is very important to my health and I am definitely going to redesign my SMART goal instead of getting defeated. This class has given me that extra push I needed to make many positive changes in my life. THANK YOU!

    Motivations

This week I motivated aechambers and Weakland. I think the main thing that keeps me motivated is how much better I feel since I started my exercise and diet plan. I also stay motivated by trying new things. By looking up new, healthy recipes or attending different exercise classes, I remind myself how fun living a healthy lifestyle can be! This week I did my yoga workout and it took a lot of effort to stay motivated this week. My body was sore, I was lacking sleep, I was loaded with homework, but I knew yoga would help me let go of all that for a little while and do something good for my body. I thought of the progress I had made in yoga and this thought helped me get out of bed much earlier than my body wanted to. I also knew I would feel much better about myself if I exercised instead of staying in bed. During the workout, some of the positions were difficult for my aching body, but by remembering that my body was becoming stronger and healthier I was able to use yoga to relax/stretch my muscles.

    Zumba

Your healthier version of a fiesta taco salad sounded delicious. I love mexican food, but I know that Taco Bell does not use healthy ingredients. I like how you replaced the meat with black beans. That was a very smart idea to lower the amount of cholesterol and make the meal vegetarian. I have a good friend who is allergic to gluten so I will be sure to share this recipe with her. I noticed that you have done a zumba workout. What did you think about zumba? I have always wanted to take part in zumba because it seems like a very fun and energetic activity, but I haven't been able to find a class that fits easily into my schedule. I'm sure you feel very worked out after zumba class and burn a lot of calories. I'll have to find a zumba class to try soon. Keep up the good work!

Healthier Version of Fiesta Taco Salad

http://dailyburn.com/recipes/healthier_version_of_fiesta_taco_salad My delicious version of the taco salad I've started making within the last few months. It's super easy to prepare AND it's gluten-free as well as vegan! I made quite a few changes to make it healthier than the Taco Bell version. The main change I made was taking out the ground beef and replacing it with black beans. I also used organic salsa instead of their zesty sauce. However by adding more vegetables, this salad still is loaded with flavor! Though these changes make quite a difference in the taste, they are equally delicious. Plus, after eating my version of the recipe, you will feel full but without the queezy feeling that Taco Bell can leave you with. My main goal with this recipe was to make something that ANYONE could eat, including people on diets or with food allergies. I hope everyone agrees that this salad is universally yummy:)
