Completely stalled
Maybe I'm just way too impatient, but in the last two weeks I have completely stalled in my weight loss. I can't seem to make any sort of progress at all. I've been pretty bummed about it and have had a hard time figuring out why that is. Then the thought occurred to me that even though I've switched my workout routine up a lot and added weight lifting to it, that perhaps I'm not burning enough calories. Tim told me there are 3500 calories in a pound and I don't think w/ my new workout that I'm actually doing 3500 calories worth of exercising. I have a lot of stops and starts in my weight lifting (not to mention that after two weeks I still haven't had any sore muscles at all) and I wonder if that is actually hurting me calorie wise. Perhaps if my weight lifting were more fluid then I would get more benefit out of it. I dunno. I'm going to wear Tim's heart monitor tonight when I exercise and see what number that comes up w/ for calories burned and compare it to what Daily Burn says. My old exercise was to pretty much just do the elliptical for an hour and that seemed to work for most of the year. The only reason I switched it at all was because I was getting really bored w/ it.

Oops weekend
So this past weekend proved to be hard to count calories and exercise for a couple of reasons. Counting calories was hard due to Pioneer Day on Friday. Especially since we didn't prepare our own food. Can you imagine asking your host for a measuring cup so you can measure out portions? Or worse, bringing your own? Makes me laugh. Exercising on Saturday to make up for sluffing on Friday was impossible since I hurt my ankle (by falling down two steps, sort of embarrassing). Kinda hard to exercise w/ a massive lump! Luckily my foot is better and while I may have to tone down the exercising this week, I should still be able to do most of it.

HI!
Hey Laura! I just wanted to tell you that you're doing a great job! It's really hard to do it when you feel like you're by yourself and I don't know if Tim is doing it with you or not. John and I have found that when we do it by ourselves it's REALLY hard. But, even though we're miles and miles away, we're here for you! I think the weekends are the hardest because I want to play and party and, to me, that means food. So, anyway, I just wanted to say that I'm thinking about you and we're here for you, too! :D Sarah

Fret not...
It's just your body's way of telling you that something has changed. Exercise up and Calories down makes your body think that something is wrong and goes into, for a sports analogy, "prevent defense"; it starts storing more because it thinks you're starving yourself. This is really temporary. May last a week, but then you'll drop 2-5 pounds in one day. It's probably mostly water retention. Keep it up. This happens to me every time I switch up my routine; I gain a pound or two.

Hmmmm......
In the past week and a half my weight loss has totally stalled and now it seems to have gone up some. Not sure why that is. Ah well, I suppose I shouldn't let one day w/ a bad score get me down.
