Waitlist
Called Triathlon WA to find out where I am on the waitlist for the Ironman 70.3 Busselton. Apparently I'm about 120th out of 300 people. They said on average there is a 10% dropout rate which means 165 may offload a place. It's still a long time to wait to see if I'll get an opportunity to race. Guess I'll have to keep training just in case :/

Ironman 70.3 Busselton
Registration will open up for TWA members on the 19th October and for 20th October for non-members. Going to try my luck again and register 10am sharp on the 20th, not really keen on paying $220 to become a member. I got in last year but others weren't so lucky. They've increased the numbers from 1400 to 1650 individual entries so I think I have better chance this year.

Champion Lakes Duathlon 09/10/11
The weather looked shocking in the morning with heavy rain, hail and thunderstorms but luckily it all cleared up for the race. We had a fairly strong easterly winds which suited me fine, that is we had cross wind rather than head wind down the long straight. First run leg was all about pacing and not going out too hard, cycling leg I had a bit too much fun and was hammering it the best I could. The 3rd run leg was a bit of a struggle with the calves cramping up slightly but still able to maintain a decent pace. Official Results: Overall 70/210, Gender 61/142, Category 8/20. Very happy with the results. Beat my previous best by 4 minutes and 23 seconds, also didn't come 2nd last this time :)

Weight Training
As much as I hate missing out on workouts I'm going to leave the weights alone this week until after the Duathlon on Sunday. I'm suppose to be tapering this week. Got 2 more intervals on Thursday then SFA :)

Weekend & Race Trial
Great weekend for training. Managed to do a practice duathlon on very heavy legs (did weighted leg exercises the night before) and the results were still good! In fact it was better than my race times last year. With fresh legs and my light racing shoes I should be able to PB this race on Sunday. Here's hoping :)
