    The pain of Diets

If there's something I learned in this last year and I can offer you as the best advice In the world is this: Diets do not work in the long run. You have to face it as a change of habits, for good. forever. You and I know that soda, fried and processed food are bad for our health, so, the correct decision is not to deprive ourselves for a specific amount of time and then get back on it and gain all the weight back.. because that's what happens to most people. You have to eliminate the bad stuff. Junk food is like drugs,,you can never get enough of it, and if you want to leave it, you REALLY need to leave it. Of course it does not need to be pure suffering.. you can indulge once in awhile, but once you assimilate that this stuff will kill you, it's easy to not touch it. It was hard at the beginning, but now, believe me, it's a no brainer. As for the weight, I admit ; i became a little obsessed with it :) I weight myself everyday first thing in the morning. I have a digital scale, so yes, I really see the small changes, but I don't pay much attention to it. These days it's all about management and slowly burning the last 5kg i want to lose. I already lost 33kg, so, it's all good now. You asked about other exercises: I do mountain bike at least once a week, elliptical and i'm currently doing the Intermediate Bodyweight Plan from Dailyburn cause i REALLY need to improve my strenght and build more muscle if i want to shed those last 5 kgs.. Hope this helps!

    hey there.

Long time since that first post 8 months ago :) Glad to see you're back. Answering your questions: I'm running 3 times a week, 2 10k during the week, and a long run on the weekend (increasing 1km each couple of weeks) Last one was 17k. Regarding the BPM, it's average of 140, that's roughly 75% of my max. One of the reasons is that I run with my wife most of the times and her pace is a little slower than mine, so It's good for me for conditioning. Other main reason is that I lost a lot of weight and my fitness is a lot better these days. Usually to run at the speed I run these days, 6 months ago my BPM would have gone through the roof. If you need any pointers, just ask, I'll gladly help. Good luck!

    keep up the good work

Hey, glad to be your motivator and also motivate myself in the process :) Couple tips, don't be too worried about the scale, and always weight yourself ONLY in the morning, that's where it counts. If you keep on this calorie level, along with healthier foods whenever possible, I guarantee you will get results. I'm 14 years older than you and it's been awesome, so it will be awesome for you too. If i can help with anything just let me know, I'll be following your progress. Cheers
