    Body Statistics (15 May 2010)

I finally had a chance to enter some of my body stats, but I had to use my wife's computer to do so. That's not a bad thing, but she has a Dell Laptop Mini which I find to be a pain in the a$$ to use. Anyhow, weight is up a little bit which is not surprising. Still 196 lbs is still down from 199 lbs a few weeks ago so I'm back on track. My heart rate is also doing well so healthwise I'm doing fine, except for my rotator cuff that is. Speaking of my lifts, keeping the calories up on a lift day seems to be working. I did my lifts yesterday with perfect form and lots of energy and am ready to advance again. I'll just have to remember to keep my calories in a deficit on rest days, like today and tomorrow.

    Diet Adjustments - Remix (13 May 2010)

I'm still working on trying to increase my calorie intake on days I lift while running a deficit on rest days. It's hard to balance that day to day. I need the calories for lifting, but I don't wish to get fat. At the same time I want to make sure that I have enough protiens available everyday for my muscles to grow, even if the required amount of protiens don't meet DB's suggestions. Anyhow, I'm on a rest day so I'm hoping that I can end the day with a deficet of calories, but sufficiently high in protiens (probably just over 200 g, I'll have to calculate that to be sure).

    Diet Adjustments (10 May 2010)

I've tried increasing my calorie intake over the weekend and it seems to have helped as far as my squats go. I think I should aim to meet or exceed maintanence calorie levels on workout days and try to have a negative net on non-exercising days from now on.

Shoulder Pain and "Diet" Dilemma (04 May 2010)

Well, the past little while I've developed a pain in my left shoulder. I tried to ignore it at first, but it wouldn't go away and it seemed to be slowly getting worse. Concerned I started reading up on shoulder pain and what I'm experiences seems to be described quite well by Rotator Cuff Injury. I sounds like it ranges from serious to not-so-serious, but also depends on what you do about it. I'm going to see a health professional about it, but in the interim I've decided to drop all presses from my exercise routine until I heal and have strengthened my shoulder cuff. My first workout minus presses was tonight. Hopefully it only takes about a week to heal though I doubt I'll loose too much strength in my shoulders. If I do then I'll just have to suck it up, back the weight down and build up again. That's still better than going through this pain in my shoulder again. The other thing is diet. I want my muscles to grow, but I want to loose fat. I'm doing squats every workout and I've noticed that that requires a lot of fuel. I wonder if I should adjust my DB goals to reflect this. I'm shifiting into squatting three times a week and I need to make sure that I properly fuel my body, but I don't want to get fat either. I may need to get some advice on this one.

About Me

Hi, I'm a father of three and a husband of one. I'm an educator, son(-in-law), brother(-in-law), friend, acquaintance, stranger...in short, I'm me. I originally started working out to improve my strength and endurance, but I haven't worked out regularily in almost a year. Hopefully, Gymnee/DailyBurn will help keep me motivated. Sorry about the motto, but I just can't think of anything clever, or profound to put there right now.
