List of Ingredients
- 1 serving of TVP (Texturized Vegetable Protein)
- 6 servings of Soup, beef broth or bouillon, powder, dry (1 cube)
- 3 servings of Water, tap, drinking (1 cup 8 fl oz)
- 2 servings of Onions, raw (1 cup, chopped)
- 2 servings of Minced Garlic
- 1 serving of Canola Oil
- 2 servings of Hominy, canned, white (1 cup)
- 3 servings of Hunts diced tomatoes no salt added
- 1 serving of Spices, chili powder (1 tbsp)
- 6 servings of Water, tap, drinking (1 cup 8 fl oz)
Recipe Description
- Add several tablespoons of powdered broth (to your taste) to boiling water.
- Stir.
- Add TVP chunks.
- Cover and remove from heat.
- Let chunks absorb the liquid while you prepare the rest of the soup.
- In a large pot, saute onion until soft.
- Add garlic and continue sauteing until fragrance is released.
- Add chili powder to sauteed vegetables and mix well.
- Add 6 cups of water and bring to a boil.
- Stir in chiles, hominy and tomatoes.
- Add TVP chunks and additional broth powder to taste.
- Add cilantro
- Simmer for 10-20 minutes to blend flavors.
- Serve with corn chips or tortilla chips.
