Recipe Description

  1. Add several tablespoons of powdered broth (to your taste) to boiling water.
  2. Stir.
  3. Add TVP chunks.
  4. Cover and remove from heat.
  5. Let chunks absorb the liquid while you prepare the rest of the soup.
  6. In a large pot, saute onion until soft.
  7. Add garlic and continue sauteing until fragrance is released.
  8. Add chili powder to sauteed vegetables and mix well.
  9. Add 6 cups of water and bring to a boil.
  10. Stir in chiles, hominy and tomatoes.
  11. Add TVP chunks and additional broth powder to taste.
  12. Add cilantro
  13. Simmer for 10-20 minutes to blend flavors.
  14. Serve with corn chips or tortilla chips.
