Total Immersion

Just giving a shoutout to Terry Laughlin's 'Total Immersion' swimming method -- an incredible help for someone like me who used to not be able to finish 50m in freestyle. After going through half of his exercises I'm doing 100m intervals with underwater turns *easily*, and I just picked up butterfly this week! Just awesome. It transformed what swimming means for me, from a boring chore to a mindful practice and smooth workout that makes completely high! I'd advise to start with 'extraordinary swimming for everybody' rather than the first 'total immersion book', it's an easier read and more dense in exercises/tips for every stroke.

0% Strength Training?

I used to swim for a club, but recently stopped due to an injury. I can tell you now they did not get all those muscles from just swimming. They spend a lot of time outside the pool both running (usually) and in the gym.
